Like son, like father? With due respect, that is a cheap shot. Some kids do really stupid things. Even kids from good parents who work hard to rear them well. It happens.

Doesn't Kerry have Chris LeHane working for him? Odds are it was LeHane who leaked this one, afterall, he was the one who leaked Bush's DUI during the 2000 campaign.

I actually feel sorry for Dean. But it will be interesting to see how the press handles this. Will perkie Katie and the Today show open up Monday mornings program with this story, as they did with the Bush girls? Or will they even mention it?

Since both father and son have indicated a desire to put this behind them and move on, it would be inappropriate for any of the ultra-left wing, neocommunist democrat media to make any further mention of this unfortunate situation. Let us move on! Hey, how about those missing weapons of mass destruction?

it happens to pubbies, too!
when randy "duke" cunningham r-ca was my u.s. congressman his son was busted up in boston for dealing drugs.
my admiration for the duke, a vietnam combat pilot, fell when he went up to the trial and grovelled before the judge to reduce his son's sentence.
seems to me, if you can do the crime, you can do the time.

No, but it sounds like a boy who hates his Father. Any kid who would even risk this kind of embarrassment to his Father at this time is a kid who wanted to get caught. IMHO,

I'm sure this will make Dean more appealing to the Dem base, in a "been there, done that" sort of way. Just as Clinton's numbers went up everytime he got busted, so will Dean.
Good news for the GOP. Now if only it can be proved that Kerry was behind the link...

Vermont is a textbook example of what happens when 60's throwback hippie SOB's get themselves in charge of Gov't.
The heroin problem in Burlington is unbelievable, I have a cousin there who is an addict in rehab because liberal cops and politicians won't enforce drug laws.
I guarantee you Deans kid is on Heroin and was stealing stuff with his junkie friends to get drugs.

Ah, the magical age of 17 mixed with desire for demon rum....oh my...it happens...too bad they just didn't ask dear old liberal president wannabe, papa Dean, for a few swigs instead. Dumb kids.

"Art Cyr, a detective in Burlington, Vt., said the incident occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. Friday, when the police officer spotted Paul Dean seated at the wheel of a car near the country club and questioned him, learning that the burglary was in progress."Sounds to me like a child raised by liberals ratted his friends out at the earliest opportunity. I'm not defending the theft, just pointing out the lack of loyalty......

When the Bush girls kept getting in trouble for underage drinking I thought the RATs were going to wet themselves with excitement.
This is a bit more serious and it will be interesting to see what the leftist rags have to say.
I hope good conservatives can realize that Dean is the candidate, not his son, and leave this alone.
Some class on our part will contrast with the RATs disgusting behavior and raise the image of conservatives in the public eye.
To: Libloather
As long as he doesn't make any more excuse for him than "kids do stupid things", or start accusing his political opponents of "setting him up", I'd say this is a non-issue, politically.
I have an aversion to using a politician's kids as ammunition against him, especially when he is a wacko who can be ridiculed on his own merits, like Dean.

It must be a new craze: Teenagers who Embarrass their Politician Fathers
The story so far:
George Bush:
The Bush Twins- underage drinking cited multiple times while father was president.
Jeb Bush:
Son (not George P.) caught by a security guard at a mall having sex in a car with some girl; daughter arrested for *serious* drug problems.
Al Gore:
Son arrested by police for speeding, embarrassing his father who was running for president at the time.
Bill Frist:
Teenage son recently arrested for drunken driving.
Howard Dean:
Teenage son arrested for his part in robbing a country club for alcohol, embarrassing his father while running for president.
Teenagers are scary people, with minds and hormones of their own. But kids can make mistakes like those above, and still turn out just fine, although Jeb Bushs daughter really seems to be in a difficult situation.
