Homeowners, start looking into those high efficiency furnaces. Ours cut our natural gas bill by over a third.

We're going to get screwed this year on propane, I see.
going to get into the "pre-buy' plan and limit the damage.

How about decomissioning the natural gas power plants and converting them to coal? Seems like a great waste to burn a primary home heating fuel to make electricity.

The approaching train wreck re lack of Natural Gas Supplies to meet the demands are courtesy of the Watermelon Green Jihadist Enviralists of America.
They won't allow drilling for new gas wells. Then they force California and other states to only build new electrical power plants that can only use natural gas.
Enviralists will freeze the babies and old people this year to save some slimey critter that has been labeled endangered.

Gas, America's best engergy value..... NOT!
93% efficient furnace and small well insulated home and its still over $100 a month in winter to keep it at 65 degrees.... Getting to the point where its cheaper to just go electric heat.
To: Brian S
Those policies promoted natural gas as the fuel of choice to run power plants, alternative fuel vehicles and, because gas emits less carbon dioxide than coal or oil, as a way to help address climate change. I'm glad we didn't fall into the trap of producing more power with Atomic energy of drilling ANWAR. Instead, we get to pay more because gas is "clean".
Fortunately for the Dems, this is just in time to blame George Bush and his "Oil Buddies" in the 2004 elections!
Maybe the solution is everybody live in teepees and burn buffalo chips?

True, but with diesel floating around $2 a gallon that's no cheaper proposition.

Enviralists will freeze the babies and old people this year to save some slimey critter that has been labeled endangered. hahahahaha...actually, there will probably be some federally sponsored 'relief' for people who are so unlucky to not have enough money to pay for gas to heat -- while playing bingo, going to Las Vegas and gambling, buying stereos, new cars, taking expensive trips and eating out a lot, but NOOOO can't pay for their own heating costs!

Not necessarily a cheaper proposition but a "supply consideration".
When the natgas pipeline that supplies gas your house goes dry, there isn't much of an alternative but to wait until the supply resumes. With oil you at least have a option to keep warm.
Also makes me wonder if rolling 'gas outs' are even possible. Imagine all the 'pilot lights' (not all electronic yet) that would need to be safely relit.

Kerosene or Electric heater fill any supply issues just as easily as trips to the gas station for diesel.
Reality is, damn greenies and idiot legislatures who have capitulated to them have screwed over every american, that's the short and the long of this thing.
To: Brian S
The only time I have heard of natural gas not flowing to houses is when ice literally built up and blocked the supply lines.
To: Grampa Dave
They won't allow drilling for new gas wells. Then they force California and other states to only build new electrical power plants that can only use natural gas. Then when Sempra Energy builds a new power plant 3 miles south of the CA border, they sue to stop the electricity from flowing, even when Sempra's CEO acknowledges compliance with US REGS.
I'm gonna post tomorrow, the recent testimony to congress in re: natural gas crisis. It's a long but very illuminating read. Several subtle and some direct attacks on the enviro/nazis in the testimony.

Natural-gas prices end with an 8% fall; crude sinks by Myra P. Saefong
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- July natural gas fell 46.6 cents to close at $5.291 per million British thermal units in New York -- a two-month low after the Energy Department reported a hefty 127 billion-cubic-foot increase in last week's natural-gas supplies. August natural gas, which became the lead-month contract at the session's close, fell 40.5 cents to close at $5.43. Pressured by the losses in natural gas, August crude futures closed at $29.01, down 94 cents. July unleaded gasoline fell 2.28 cents to close at 83.32 cents a gallon and July heating oil closed at 74.88 cents a gallon, down 3.03 cents.
At first I thought the headline read... "Crude Stinks."
