My grandfather was a cotton farmer in the Lubbock area in the 50's. He told me that most farmers would average one decent crop every three years. He had three years in a row where most of the county had nearly total loses from hail and or drought and he made three bumper crops. He saw it was time to get out after the third year before the odds got a chance even things out. He invested his money in a radio station along with 2 of his sons and never had to work again.

Gee...about halfway through the article before they describe what "lost" means. Sounded as though it had wandered off and they couldn't figure out where to.
