"Max Elbaum, a former member of SDS, was active in the new communist
movement in the 1970s and 1980s and was the managing editor of
Crossroads magazine in the 1990s." Link.
In Seize the Moment, Mr. Elbaum writes about how the new Communists can use the war in Iraq to further their cause:
"If a creative plan for mobilization can be united upon by an accountable constellation of forces who have earned some moral and political authority, I am convinced it will unleash tremendous energy and enthusiasm from the grassroots. Then, together, we will be able not just to understand and denounce the real "axis of evil," but throw a serious wrench into its deadly war machine." ~ Max Elbaum, Sept. 2002.
ACTIVIST: "Max Elbaum has been involved in peace and anti-racist movements since joining
students for a Democratic Society (SDS) in Madison, Wisconsin in the 1960s.."

Participant in last weekends big Chicago celebration (sharing the 'family-friendly' weekend in Chicago w/ "Taste of Chicago" and "Gay Pride Parade"):
Amazing the trouble a few determined mischief-makers can cause.
One nutcase Iraqi Ba'athist Socialist Party defender is now calling on international fellow travelers in international UNIONS to protest our troops efforts to root out the terrorists and mass-murderers.
He kindly left his business address and e-mail address (in Baghdad) where he is actively working to stir up dissent (and endanger our troops) in Iraq - organizing three strikes in three Iraqi cities for Thursday:
Union of the Unemployed in Iraq - UUI -July 3 Day of Action

The first major nationwide antiwar demonstration, called by Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) for April 17, 1965, beat back a harsh red-baiting campaign. . . Red baiting? The protests were planned in and funded by Moscow.

This view from a revolutionary Marxist is stunning.Divide the races is the new hope for Marxist it seems..they always love peace organizations and anything that's anticapitalism.I was delighted to hear he was disappointed in the forward march! That Americans are organizing strikes in Iraq is maddening.

Max was late to the party and leaves out much, in this article !
The prime movers behind the actual unrest ( MARISM ) were RED DIAPER BABIES all, except for Tom Hayden. The vast majority of the " leaders " of SDS were likewise. They also helped the Black Panthers with funds, advice, and support, even though the Black Panthers were nothing but a violent street gang of thugs. But then, they were thought to be just " useful idiots ",as Paul Robson was to those in the old USSR.
Involving blacks and other minorities ( including poor whites; though THAT never really worked here ), is not only directly out of Saul Alinsky's " RULES FOR RADICALS", but a MARIST/COMMUNIST tact from the very beginnings. Emma Goldman used it too.
David Horowitz spilled the beans, in his many books, but especially in " RADICAL SON ".
Myself, having lived through the period and aware, knew in my gut what was behind many of these things. Horowitz just confirmed my assumptions. Unfortunately, most people were and still are unaware of the facts. We should learn them ALL and then spread the word. No one else is going to inform the populace.

That's why I love to read about the 20s to now.The violence of the 60s seemed so far removed from my home in Texas.I was thrilled some old revolutionaries were sentenced in California not long ago.Murder has no statute of limitation. What I loved about this piece was the outrageous bias.I am certain he believes every word.

Read up on Sacco & Venxetti. Read " RULES FOR RADICALS ". Heck, go back farther and read about Emma Goldman. It's been a steady procession;unfortunately.
I always cheer, when old radicals get caught and punished. Oh, and of course he means it; he's been brainwashed.

More stuff for you to read and digest. :-)

I know about the use of the Sacco Vanzetti case to rally the troops and create controversy.I paraphrase Kathryn Ann Porter interviewing a supporter"Save them? What good would they be if we saved them!"COLD!I'm going down the "red diaper babies" page on google. You've given me more to read!I'll take your advice on the rest. Thanks

You're welcome; always glad to help spread the word. :-)
Good, far too few people know about the S&V trails. Even back then, the " intellectual elite " rose to the occasion and rallied behind them, as did some of those in " the arts ". It was shameful and disgusting. The old Frebch phrase still rings true ... The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Rules for Radicals was very instructive!Alinsky was a clever fellow.I would study this if I wanted to counteract.Know your enemy!

I read the book when the Clintons first reared their ugly heads, since it had been mentioned that he was Hitlery!'s mentor.
You bet ... KNOW THINE ENEMY !
To: nopardons
Thank you !I've been racking my brain for the name of her "activist" mentor. Is this the one who helped in the defense of black militants?

I don't know if it was Saul who was involved with the BLACK PANTHER murder trial in Hartford, but I think it might NOT have been. OTOH, it was he, whom Hitlery! waxed eloquent ( barf !) about, in her senior thesis; the one UNAVAILABLE and hidden from public scrutiny.
OTOH, Saul was heavily involved with the Unions and minorities in Chicago, for most of the 20th century. He was a real piece of work. GAG
