Those following the plight of a West Milford man who shot a bear to prevent it from entering his home -- only to be charged by state and local authorities -- may be interested in the attached message about a fund raising event for the man being organized by hunters' rights activist Eric Bunk.
They are holding a fundraiser for the Flynn family to help pay for fines and legal fees on SATURDAY, JULY 12th at 2:00 p.m.at the Reflection Lakes Inn, 1204 Union Valley Road, West Milford (973-728-3908). If you can, please bring food and barbecue grills. We also need couple of volunteers to help collect the $5 per person donation (children free) and help park cars. We'll also try to donate a portion of the proceeds to Hunters for the Hungry. Route 23 North to Union Valley Road, approximately 3 miles on the right (look for a white stone sign).

What a bunch of crap...a govt that would punish its citizens for defending themselves against the attack of wild animals or predatory humans-
Is unjust illegal and un American....we threw off those opressive chains back in 1776
Apparently those chains are being hung on us again...

New Jersey is going to have the first bear hunt in years this fall, because they finally decided there are too many
Personally, I think black bear is mighty tasty.

Besides deep pit, it's even better on a Foreman grill.

I will come. I can't promise anything more than me and a couple bucks to help this guy, but who should I seek out when I get there? I can come early and help direct traffic or whatever. I'll also take a pile of pictures and post them here on FR. Freepmail me. I live in Highland Lakes and it's about a 20 minute drive for me...and I'm all for supporting anyone against the lib econazis from Montclair.
Freemail me for my real email as well. I can help out.

From
vavavah's link:
"Although Flynn indicated at the time that he shot the bear in self-defense, the division's necropsy report indicated otherwise. The bear was shot in the rear at a range of about 15 yards, indicating it was retreating when Flynn pulled the trigger."

According to econazis, he should have waited to see if bear will attack him, eat him, if so, than call 911 and have a nice policemen to write the report and say they are sorry.
Enough! Freep & Roll!

My Wisconsin born & bred daughter lives in New Jersey. She thinks the econazis, treehuggers and various assorted anti-hunting nuts are just that--NUTS. She looks at the 12 deer herd that grazes in her backyard as venison. The nuts look at them as Bambi.

I live in Northwest NJ, and have seen an increase in the number of black bears roaming my neighborhood in the last three years. I nearly tripped over one last semester after I came home from a night class. The garage light was off, and I thought my neighbor's black lab was walking near our garbage cans. Since then, I have made a habit of keeping bear mace in my car, and I also don't put out the garbage unless my good friend Glock is with me.

I'll have to ask my daughter if she's seen any black bear yet. She lives outside Princeton.

Why does anyone even bother these days to call the authorities?
If this guy's judgement led him to the neccessity of shooting the animal, I'm sure he had the sense to dispose of it as well. I'm sure he will rely on his BETTER judgement next time.
In situations like this, I see no need to get Barney riled and the en-vi-ro-men-tal-ists down Raleigh way upset.
