[history]
July 24, 2003 -- LAST week more than 900 or so Muslim scholars and theologians gathered in Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysian capital, to ask a simple question: What is the role of Islam in the era of globalization? This was a star-studded occasion with many prominent religious and political figures from more than 70 Muslim countries across the globe. The participants heard 22 learned papers and sat through some 36 hours of debate spread over three days.

Looks like Islamic leaders are adapting to Western thought faster than we thought - they're adopting the nhilistic "it's not my fault" attitude.

Yes. Send their leaders to the University of Paris, Oxford, or Berkeley to bring them into the 21st century. NOT.

Islam is NOT a religion
it is a CULT OF HATE
ACTION PLAN:
1) Assemble fleet of troop transport vessels in port cities; 2) move, via bus and/or train all US dwelling Muslims (immigrant or American Born Muslims ABM) to said ports; 3) Load all muslims onto ships, send forthwith to any middle east muslim country; 4) Bulldoze all mosques and islamic schools in US;
5) Concurrently, close borders with military; 6) Pop any American brewed beer, gloat over job well accomplished and relax.

We The People can make this happen (or something similar) IF
we quit paying nice, nice when we really dont like someone. Quit being PC, quit trying to be "above the fray" when others are not.
Let the general population make it as uncomfortable (within the law) for Islamists as we can. I mean, we boycotted France without the help of our government and they're screaming with the loss of money.

What makes anyone think Islam has a future? Hate to have to be a pessimist, but...
I'm not being defeatist at all, but holding them off until they reform is a very long term project. There really are too many of them to nuke them all without unacceptable ill effects. And I don't primarily mean political ill effects.
Stay the course, as we said about Reagan and Communism, but this will be a harder nut to crack. Communist ideology started with Marx or Gramsci in the 19th century. Islam started over a millenium before the USA.
I think we can do it, but will we?

Once we have set aside the theopolitical discourse we could acknowledge the distinction between Islam as a faith and Islam as an existential reality.The author is looking so hard for the swamp that he can't see he's standing in it.
Islam has no "existential reality." It is a religion and a faith, period.
The very fact that there is a "Muslim nations" conference suggests that Muslims cannot distinguish politics from religion from "existential reality," which is precisely the problem with Islam.
I think the last "Christian nations" conference was held in about 1450 AD.

(Moderate Islam Is For Dilettantes)
To: whomever
Once we have set aside the blame game we should acknowledge the existence of politics, economics and ethics as domains distinct from that of theology. What this means is that political, economic and ethical issues cannot be defined, analysed, understood and answered in purely theological terms. The "theology" that produced a peaceful, self-governing, locally-controlled, prosperous society in America, also produced political Federalism. The simple fact is that Islam will never produce democracy, because it is a false religion...
To: sbw123
The tragic irony is that classical Islam did recognize the existence of domains distinct from theology. That "classical" Islam was largely a blip in history - its fundamentalist interpretations are that of the Qur'an, which are that there IS NO law other than that recited by Mohammed and interpreted by the mullahs, who are known as "doctors of Islam." That presented a real problem for the Ottomans when technology gave rise to objects and usages clearly not covered by anything in that scripture. It was then that "classical" Islam began to bend the rules a bit. The fundamentalists now in charge of the Islamist factions will have none of that.
If Islam is to survive the moderate, "classical" Muslims must wrest control of that religion's own internal power structure from the violent and militant who now lead it into terrorism and murder in the name of a religion that nominally rejects such things.

Islam can be a breed of fish with us all swimming up river looking for the light of life.

Suggestions? Boycott all "7-11"s? Because it's tough to tell the difference between the harmless Hindu and the damn Muslim sometimes. I agree with all your post, though. I just don't want to discriminate against the wrong folks, ya know?

AMENDED ACTION PLAN:
Accomplish steps 1) and 2); 3) Load all muslims onto ships, send forthwith to a spot approximately equidistant any coastline; 4) Torpedo all ships with extreme prejudice. 5) Resume original plan.

Islam = Satanism.
However we can and do tolerate Satanism in the US so long as it doesn't break the law.
Just as we can tolerate the Cult Of The Moon God so long as it does not conspire to, plan to, or in fact break the law, which is superior to religion under the U.S. Constitution.
