**FR Exclusive** KUCINICH SOLICITS FOREIGN MONEY FOR 2004 ON FOREIGN WEBSITE (JAPANESE) [VIOLATION?]
Global Peace Campaign (Japan) Website in Japanese ^ | 28 July 2003 | AmericanInTokyo

Posted on 07/28/2003 9:30:12 AM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

(You will need a browser with Japanese font capability, and ability to comprehend written Japanese)

As a FReeper Researcher, I have just come across a JAPANESE organization, based on an overseas JAPANESE website, in JAPANESE, that is encouraging foreigners to contribute money to and assist the "Campaign for American President Dennis Kucinich".

The URL of the activity was located at:

http://www.peace2001.org/

The organization is called "Global Peace Campaign" located in Japan. It is part of an umbrella of socialist and communist organizations opposing US efforts in Iraq, it supports North Korea, and is aligned with the usual communist movements.

The website has the invitation clearly written in Japanese, on the upper left side of the page, along with a link to the Kucinich campaign in the US, and a photo of the candidate. The organizers specifically solicit 500 Kucinich campaign contributors in Japan as a goal. Below are the comments in Japanese, translated by myself.

[Japanese]: "Dennisu Kusinichu wo amerika no daitoryo ni!"

[English]: "Let's Make Dennis Kucinich the American President!"

[Japanese]: "Amerika no heiwa daitoryo ni. Campaign"

[English]: "Campaign for American Peace President!"

[Japanese]: "Nihon kara America daitoryo senkyo ni oenshimasho!"

[English]: "Even from Japan, let's support (his) election as American President!"

Further, there are links to three sites. One is put up by a Japanese citizen, Takeshi Kawagoe, stating it is a "support site for the American candidate for peace."

The Federal Election Commission Smoking Gun:

On hitting one of the links, you are directed to a page which SPECIFICALLY solicits a backdoor way to raise funds overseas for the Kucinich Presidential Campaign in Japanese. It is done under the guise of selling his books, and the organizer even recognizes that contributions by foreigners to a presidential campaign is illegal, however, he has arranged for a way for them to get around it via the Kucinich books. He clearly shows the sales of the books assists the presidential campaign and heralds that there has been good success recently in the book sales. Japanese readers are told how much money to send, and are provided a SPECIFIC Japanese bank account number to make their cash donations to the Kucinich Campaign.

The Dennis Kucinich bank account to receive foreign funds from Japanese is: "Harmonix Life Center, Japan Postal Account # 00110-1-114224".

FReepers, conservative American radio talk show hosts, legal lurkers, FBI, FEC, (whomever), have at it, go at it!

I don't know. I know one thing. The Libs who read this site worldwide will be making a frantic call to Tokyo to the organizer or his webmaster, even if it is 1:45 a.m. there and they have to wake them out of bed, for them to TAKE DOWN THAT WEBSITE immediately.

Can somebody, anybody out there, archive this asap so it is saved!!?? I'll give anyone private freepmail hints on specifically which pages to save/archive since the links I am referring may come up as meanless symbols in your English only browser.

Again, this page in Japan needs to be archived/cached, saved ASAP. I believe it is indeed a major federal campaign FEC financing illegality and contravenes CFR, too.

This is rather major. This is a pyramid to at least THREE separate Japanese language sub-websites by individuals promoting funds for Kucinich, in Japanese. I have archived as many as I can on my desktop as "FEC Mondai 1, FEC Mondai 2, FEC Mondai 3, etc." in html format. ('mondai' means 'trouble'.

Even one of the pages of the funds organizers has a color picture of her (a Ms. Yumi Kikuchi) on a campaign bus or plane precisely with Candidate Kucinich. (Below)

Dennis Kucinich is co-chair of the progressive caucus. The Progressive Caucus, an avowedly socialist congressional caucus was operating out of a congressional office staffed by a congressional aide and paid for with your tax dollars.

Sec. 441e. - Contributions by foreign nationals

(a)

It shall be unlawful for a foreign national directly or through any other person to make any contribution of money or other thing of value, or to promise expressly or impliedly to make any such contribution, in connection with an election to any political office or in connection with any primary election, convention, or caucus held to select candidates for any political office; or for any person to solicit, accept, or receive any such contribution from a foreign national.

(b)

As used in this section, the term ''foreign national'' means -

(1)

a foreign principal, as such term is defined by section 611(b) of title 22, except that the term ''foreign national'' shall not include any individual who is a citizen of the United States; or

(2)

an individual who is not a citizen of the United States and who is not lawfully admitted for permanent residence, as defined by section 1101(a)(20) of title 8

It wasn't hidden. It was there all along. But, dammit, by golly, WE UNCOVERED IT HERE.

AIT FYI

The above cites are two federal laws:

Title 2 USC 441 (e) and Title 18 USC 1956

These are the two federal laws that are most likely being bent or broken here.

"Of course since he's a Dem I guess they don't apply anyhow."

True. If clinton and Gore could do it with impunity, why not Kucinich?

BTW my wife actually spotted a Kucinich bumper sticker here (People's Republic of Arlington, Mass.).

Who has the pertinent Justice Department offices and their e mail links. Same for FEC? Who on the "Hill" will go full blast on this? I'll do it.

(Better yet, I bet one of his own Democratic primary opponents would take this like a starved tiger in a pit would if tossed a raw porterhouse steak.)

I attempted to run WHOIS on peace2001.org. For those who haven't tried this lately, InterNIC, which formerly hosted the full information, now only hosts the nameserver/registar information, and the hosting company (in this case, OpenSRS/Tucows having the rest of the information. The results from InterNIC are as follows:
Results flagged as "NOT AUTHORITATIVE" should be checked with the
registrar's whois server.)

Do note the name server is in Japan (.JP). What is VERY curious is the Tucows WHOIS page doesn't let you look anything up. I keep on getting "Access Denied" whne trying to do a WHOIS on peace2001.org there.
