New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)

New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)

Today I strolled into a local gunshop and much to my amazement I found a Steyr M40 (NIB) for $399.00. I’d always been interested in the Steyr ever since it came out specifically the smaller “s” series and more so the S357.

Well I just could not pass up such a good deal, I’ve seen this gun in shops down south, (GA, TN, SC) for as much as $519.00, so when I saw the $399.00 I had to have it.

Bought a pistol blanket for her, four boxes of Speer plinking ammo and some .40 cal cleaning supplies (bore brush, pads etc…) as this is my first 40.

Shot it already and WOW!!!

Accurate, once you get use to the “trapezoid” sites, trigger is short, very short and crisp, nice break around 5 pounds.

It is a very tight gun, first time I tried to apply the manual safety I couldn’t, took three or four tries now it moves just as the manual says it should, with two fingers.

I will most likely buy a tac-lite for this and a .357 barrel, and (pray) once the AWB goes away I’ll get me a few “normal capacity” mags for it (12 rounds) and then she’ll make a rather nice beside the bed gun.

It’s so nice to be able to buy a gun in a gun friendly state!

get a pump 12 with minimum barrel length and vise the muzzle into a mild duckbill.
It's an evil thing to do to a nice weapon, ruins it for resale, but... it really reduces the need for real acuracy and reduces vertical spread as well.
(I *think* it is still legal to duckbill a scatergun, but I'm not sure)

firing indescrimnatly is not a characteristic of the gun, just most of the folks who use it.

The good thing about the AK is that it's so cheap and available that just about anyone can get one. The bad thing about the AK is that it's so cheap and available that just about anyone can get one.

By the way, went looking for an image of a new piece I'm salivating over...

The H&K MP7 PDW:

From the HKPRO web site (http://www.hkpro.com/pdw.htm)

Damn that is a tiny looking bullet! However, it looks like plenty of powder to convince it to leave the barrel really fast!!!!

Thank you!

Actually none of the three photos are actually of my friends. I found these all on the web. It's not really a big deal, but I noticed that the photo of the Power Grand Master is actually a .357, not a .44 like my 629.

Maybe someday I'll photograph my toys for real.

MP7? rats... I thought it was designated MP9.
I have some doubts about such small diameter bullets - KE-transfer and permanent wound channels and all, but the performance review I have read gave it high marks.

well... I'll never be good enough to be called a sniper (except, I guess, by mediots) but I was taught from the get go to never squeeze unless sure of my target.

re: Thunderzot

Try the Magnum Research "Lone Eagle" in .308. It seems to fit your parameters.

That guy standing to the right of the shooter is fixin' to get his ear muffs blown off... his hair parted... and the photograph of a lifetime.

His friends won't recognize him without the facial hair.

"The whole aim of practical patriotism is to keep the government alarmed -- and thus clamorous to be led to safety -- by menacing it with an endless series of armed citizens, all of them; including training our children to win, NOT blow themselves up." -- H.L. Mencken (as amended by Eaker)

Great minds, ehh?

Unfortunately Dix (the shooter) couldn't play that day as he had just had surgery so it was a staged photo.

Muzzle brakes are our friends as shooters, not as bystanders!!!

Good catch though!

I guess a duckbill muzzle would help spread the shot. Sort of ruins it for any other purpose tho.

I don't think I have ever seen one and I have been heavily involved with guns for around 50 years.
