Star Parker is a conservative black writer and commentator. Sad condolences to the family.

Yes this is sad. I am struck by the friends who state their friend was sick and went out to the car, the found her there later. When you go out with friends, aren't you aware of their general circumstances? I find it wierd that this fourteen year old girl went to the car by herself in that condition. Why didn't someone go with her?

"Parker's friends told Johnson she went inside but left when she felt sick. She vomited outside, Johnson said.

Officials said Parker stayed in the car while her friends were in the club, and when they returned, she was unconscious and not responding."

Some friends!

"Rachel was the apple of her eye," said Benet. "She was so devoted to those kids...

But I guess not devoted enough to know where her daughter was or what she was going in the middle of the night. Sad and tragic. My heart aches when children are hurt due to lack of supervision by responsible adults.

&&

I thought that was odd also. But sometimes kids this age don't think things through.

It is impossible to imagine the hurt felt by her loved ones. So tragic, so sad.

"Paramedics were called at 12:15 a.m. and took her to Irvine Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 1:09 a.m"

Very sad. 14 years old and out with friends at 12:00am? Am too old fashioned, or does this seem a bit odd?

I wonder if she took some drug or a drug was added to something she drank.

Star Parker is okay and I sad to hear about her daughter etc. but what is a 14 year old doing at a night club (without liquor)? Granted the heart attack could have occurred anywhere but why let a 14 year old go to one? COuld it be there were some drugs being passed about? That's VERY odd for a 14 year old to die of a heart attack.

I don't think I would blame the friends. It could be that the girl said she was going outside for fresh air since she wasn't feeling well. I wouldn't see why someone would have to go with her if that were the case.

We've had teen clubs around here for 20 years. Places that normally serve alcohol but don't one night of the week so high school kids can have a place to go.

Star Parker...never heard of it (or her or him). Apparently not so "widely known."
