Taszar Airbase, south of Lake Balaton...one of the most beautiful places in all of Europe. Taszar was the original logistic base for the US forces going into Bosnia in 95.

Use an old Napoleonic approach to encourage Iraqis to join and support such a police force by making it part of a pathway to political power. Napoleon recruited the best and the brightest, with the promise that if the recruit turns out to be very successful and loyal, he will be rewarded with promotion and access to the ruling class. That was possible because the old corrupt French Bourbon order was swept away and it made way for middle class and poor, but bright Frenchmen to advance if givened the opportunity. Iraq is in the same situation. The Baathist Party is swept away and there is no ruling order to take its place. The new American trained Free Iraqi Force and police can represent a new order for any ambitious Iraqi. I think this is a stronger incentive than the religious inspired foreign irregular forces who are trying to undermine our efforts.

American officials had secured permission from the government of Hungary to set up a large police academy inside an old Soviet military base there.

There are a lot of people in the U.S. that don't grasp just how an announcement like that demonstrates just how much the world has changed in the past 20 years.
