Actually, I wondered about the Busta/Aztlan and the Arnold/shock story and how these stories might seem to 'cancel" each other out vis a vis -- "in the past" or "we were so much older then".

However, racism trumps the "sex" issues, ergo, Busta's story is baaaaaaad. I don't see how, politically, it can be used in a trump way.

Spanish that wiped out the Mayans and Aztecs in their search for plunder and women?

The Mayan civilization was gone before the Spainish arrived. The Spainish did defeat the Aztecs but they had a lot of help from other tribes who had an axe to grind with the Aztecs for the way the Aztecs had plundered them.

Louisiana Purchase territory added

I guess because Spain had controlled what became the Louisiana Territory between 1763 and 1803 ( After France's loss in the French and Indian War ) these Aztecs think they can claim it for themselves.

I'll say this for them is that they have set their sights high.

We need to get the word about these radicals who will destoy this country if given the chance.

While I'm somewhat sympathetic to your thoughts there, I still have to hold anyone who would join a NAZI organization as being very problematic, holocaust or not. German leadership was clearly unworthy of associating with on any level.

That being said, I don't know what went through Schwarzenegger's dad's mind on this. Clearly taking Arnold to task for the actions of his father, never mentioned as having participated in any specific criminal act, is way beyond the pale by my standards.

Do you really think that Hitler was more evil than Stalin, or Nazism worst than Leninism? I don't. We have pictures of the concentration camps because we conqured Germany. The horror of the Gulag is invisible to us.

I disagree - this story has no legs, and frankly wouldn't matter much to teh democratic constituency even if it did.

Most of the media will not give any attention to this story, and it has no traction.

I've not made a value judgement comment regarding that here. If we had a candidate who's father was involved in those goups, I'd assess that situation on it's own merits.

We could address Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein and everyone else you could bring up, but it wouldn't mean anything in this context. And I think you know we'd agree about their criminality.

I have seen the TV broadcast of the anti-illegal alien protesters being beaten, and it is dreadful. It is what the brown shirts did to people in Germany. I don't want to beat it to death, but FreePers need to keep this type of thing in mind, and if you are going to protest something, have a LOT of video cameras handy. And remember, some members of the opposition are so violent that they won't care if they are being videotaped and jail or prison doesn't scare them.

Not just vidcams, but a few M-60's spewing out belt-fed leaden goodness! I have zero tolerance for those racist swine.

Well looky here.... even the the Arizona Republic's Chief Cholo has jumped in the fray:

California coup plays a race card on Bustamante

O. Ricardo Pimentel -- Republic columnist

Aug. 28, 2003 12:00 AM

It was 1970 and, inspired by the times, cultural identity and the push for civil rights generally, a bunch of students at my high school formed United Chicano Students, UCS.

We were inspired also by a fledgling college group, MEChA, which stands for Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán and is still around today. Translated, MEChA means Chicano student movement of Aztlán. Aztlán is the mythical kingdom of the Aztecs, thought to include much of the Southwest including California, New Mexico and Arizona.

Who knew? We were racists.

At least that's the conclusion some are reaching as they draw attention to California Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante's past MEChA affiliation. And, of course, the only reason they are bothering to do this is because he is Latino and an early favorite to succeed Gov. Gray Davis in that state's coup attempt . . . er, I mean, recall.

The problem: If you identified yourself as Chicano, had a political conscience and attended a college or university, chances are very good that you, too, were a MEChista. I wasn't, but that had more to do with my journalism aspirations and a notion that reporters, even those in college, shouldn't belong to activist groups that they might have to cover.

Among the prominent MEChistas hereabouts is John Loredo, the current Arizona House minority leader. I wouldn't be surprised if most Latino political leaders nationwide were MECHistas.

So why are they racist? Well, according to the Web site for American Patrol, an anti-immigrant group, it stems partly from MEChA's constitution, Article II, Section I, which says: "General membership shall consist of any student who accepts, believes and works for the goals and objectives of MEChA, including the liberation of Aztlán, meaning self-determination of our people in this occupied state and the physical liberation of the land."

Read more from drooling loser Pimentel........

If we had a Russian immigrant candidate whose father was an ex-communist, the left would think nothing of it at all. Marxism-Leninism is responsible for the death of more people than any other "Faith" in history, but no one cares. The Left thinks of Stalin as an embarrasment, not representative of the system. They are simply incapable of becoming outraged when they hear what he did; indeed they will stop their ears so they can't hear.

Many people who joined the KKK in the 1920s were ordinary people. Likewise, the Deutsche Bund. They were not hard core anything, but..... Innocents?
