This stuff does wonders. Put it in the bowl and throw away the brush. Crockpot dinners~check. I'll keep the vaccuum tip quiet, my boy has that chore. ;)

I've greatly enjoyed reading this thread...lots of laughs and smiles. :-)
But I think I'll give my answer in a series vein...and on a little different tack:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What has FR done for America?
1. It has helped hone a new generation of conservative leaders--leaders that are desperately needed in our land--by improving their thinking, debating, writing and political warfare skills.
2. It has educated and informed hundreds of thousands of Americans directly, and by extension--because of their influence--it is in the process of educating millions of American citizens.
3. It has served as a very real influence on the course of public affairs and politics.
4. It has served as a very real influence on the Grand Old Party.
5. It has helped crank up the heat on the RATs, and has kept that heat turned up (I love the smell of boiling RATs in the morning).
6. It has provided a point of interaction for a critical part of this generation of people who are too much divided these days, both physically and culturally--to borrow a phrase from the libs, it has provided 'community' for many.
7. It has given some real heathens a chance to interact with real Christians and the Gospel, the Good News, of Jesus Christ. (Of course it has at the same time taught lots of Christians that they have lots to learn about how to live the Christian life out in this world...)
8. It has strengthened the concept of the worth and the power of the individual--enhancing indivual liberty, as well as individual responsibility.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I could go on and on--FR is an embarrassment of riches--but those are a couple of the continuing blessings of Free Republic.
And by the way, when I say Free Republic, I mean FReepers; because after all, that is what FR is: Its people.

Even though there are many great Oregon FReepers, and I really appreciate y'all, I feel like I'm in exile out here.
Free Republic is the way that I connect with my "tribe", as wardaddy likes to say. I'm so thankful for the folks in and from Mississippi...you guys keep me informed on matters that are closest to my heart.
And, then, there is a thread, that's over 1000 posts long, reminding me of my childhood, my teen years, most of my adulthood, and, most important, the things that make me the person I am today. That's the "tribe" connection.
I, also, appreciate the knowledge, and humor, on this forum. Y'all can find humor in a nuclear meltdown!
There are some truly awe inspiring writers here, as well. I have never been very articulate, so I really appreciate those who are so talented as to gift us with their presence on this forum.
That keeps me going.
Thank you, Jim!

Once in awhile when I get off of work,
I sit down at the computer and feel like a jerk,
Think about eBay, Drudge, Hotmail, and Porn,
But decide that I'm interested in political scorn,
So I pull up a seat and reach for a beer,
Find a scandalous article about Hillary, Dean, and/or Cher
Wet panty waist liberals scum after their muck,
I prep for response ready with bulllsh!t to huck ,
They perk up my dark side, my disgust, my aggression,
I ready my missiles for a liberal-RINO bashing session,
I rip into them like a dog-faced stepchile,
I levy a force of senseless nonsensical bile,
Republicans calling themselves conservative prophets,
Spinning their rhymes of self-serving sophist,
The constant clatter Oh Kobe he is a such a creep
Averting their eyes of twisted fields the accuser tends reap,
Platitudes about unethical Democrat sinners in office,
Rejoicing of Arnold, young buddies, and some hooker orifice,
Oh, the bennies I get from the FreeRepublic,
To call out the hypocrites on the carpet,
To recognize many times I dont really care,
Because somedays....I just cant contro.....
That crazy unruly, that relentless hare
Hows that???

I "met" a wonderful FReeper named TXBubba on FR almost 2 years ago. We were pregnant at the same time and commiserated during all of the ups and downs of normal pregnancies. Our babies were born two weeks apart. She's been a great person to know through e-mails and cards and I consider her a dear friend even though I've never met her face to face. Hopefully some day. Thanks TX for being there.

What I think is the most valuable thing FR has done for me is, allowed me to access the thoughts and opinions of some of our nation's best, brightest, and most accomplished people.
On FR, I have read posts from and discussed issues with people who range in professions from authors, archaeologists, doctors, tekkies, lawyers, political insiders, nuclear physicists, Astronomers, fighter pilots, Navy Seals, Historians, Professors, meteorologists, etc.
The knowledge I have gained from this access is priceless to me.

Kept me sane in Michigan.
Liberal, Union Michigan.
And got me great ammo against the liberals in my family.
Also, made me think about taglines.
