Hillary Clinton will beat George W. Bush in 2004(The Wesley Clark Chill Factor)
the back of my mind ^ | 2 September 2003 | trueblackman

Posted on 09/02/2003 6:27:03 AM PDT by Trueblackman

The pasted couple of days I have been doing some overall review of politics before the President and Congress returned to Washington DC and something has come to mind.

Last week a rumor surfaced that Senator Hillary Clinton was thinking about seeking the Democrat Nomination for 2004, remember that Ms. Clinton is suppose to be having a post Labor Day meeting with her advisors and supporters.

Basically if Ms. Clinton jumped into the race the Democrat Nomination would be hers for the taking since the other 9 Democrat Nominees would bullied out of the race.

Granted that most Washington Insiders feel that Ms. Clinton is a force to be reckoned with in a head to head match up with President Bush she would lose the race flat out in Southern and Midwestern States as well as among conservative Democrats in Southern States. Ms. Clinton could win several northern states and the west coast, but she would still lose openly.

It is the conservative Democrats who would spell Doom for Ms. Clinton and liberals inside the Democrat Party are aware of this, so enter General Wesley Clark.

The former 4 star General and NATO Surpreme Commander could be the spoiler of a Bush-Clinton Match up that would throw the race to Ms. Clinton as a third party candidate. You see the good general is very good friends with his fellow Rhodes Scholar Bill Clinton and served Bill Clinton well in the Kosovo Operations of 1998.

The Democrats know they would have peel away at least 2 million votes for Ms. Clinton to win and will seek the enlistment of the former general to run as a independent to do so. Already some in Washington have stated that General Clark is a Washington Outsider and could give great military insight on the War on Terrorism.

Terry McAlliffe is already pounding his chest and boasting that Clark will run as a Democrat but that is sought to entain Republicans in Washington and keep the real behind movement which is being controlled by former President Clinton of the radar screen.

Democrats will seek to turn Clark into a "Republican Ralph Nader" who they still blame for Al Gore's lost of the white house in 2000.

I don't buy this. There has to be serious discontent to turn out an incumbent president. That level of discontent does not exist at the current time. The Perot factor only works when enough people are discontented and are looking for a reason to vote against the incumbent.

Hillary Clinton is verboten to Reagan Democrats. They will vote for Bush if the economy is in decent shape. If the economy is in poor shape there will be a lot of discontent and the incumbent may be in trouble.

You have the the evil insight to figure that one out. It makes sense. If that woman is ever elected, It will be the end of the United States as we know it.

Clarke is not viewed as anything significant. In fact he is disliked most everywhere. One might think of him as the Gray Davis of political military appointees.

Hillary will actively campaign and build power for the next 4 years continuously. It will be sickening.

I think she was considering a shot in 2004, but the stars were not lined up. Her book tour was a mini campaign.

She will run in 2008 because she feels she will be invincible by then.

Remember Ross Perot received several thousand military votes because he selected Stockdale as his running mate. Yes Clark is a no Stockdale, but the Clintons believes with the closeness of 2000 that Clark could tip the scales in Hillary's favor.

Clark will not run 3rd Party.

He and Clinton on the same ticket, though, would be formidable. I think they'd guarantee New York and Calif for the Dem's.

Then there'd be a repeat of the 2000 election. It'd be very close.

If the economy is healthy, then Pres. Bush would have to spell out a timeline for Iraq. Otherwise, they'd eat him alive because of the public's lack of information on what the specific plan for Iraq entails.

I'm in favor of turning Iraq into a CONFEDERACY of 3 autonomous states roughly paralleling the no-fly zones of pre-war Iraq.

1. I'd place the NATIONAL capital in the Shi'ite state in the city of Basra.
2. I'd see to quick installation of governments in each of the 3 states with representatives in the national assembly.
3. I'd institute a hands off policy, but keep American troops in the Shi'ite and Kurdist states in order to make staging for redeployment an easy matter.
4. I'd squash any appearance by any Ba'athist.

Now. Anyone can nitpick that plan. But it's at least a plan.

Bush needs an announced "X Point" plan.

Clark would draw D-Rat votes, not Repub votes.

He would further bury the D-Rats.

Clarke is not viewed as anything significant.

I agree. He's not well known to the general public and a VP candidate doesn't bring that much to the table, IMO.

Again, the tragic result of smoking too much pot. Hillary won't ever be president of *this* country, and probably, by 2008, will be of little value to the left. She's already shrinking as a major political player.

To watch the Democrats(Political Insiders) here in Washington I don't think they can wait until 2008. Their supporters are ready to split(check the Dean Factory) and Terry Mac can't hold it together until 2008. That is what this big pow wow this week is about, Dean is a real threat to them all and really right now he has the money and the balls!

Interesting, but I don't think it would happen.

The main reason are that.
1. Clark would take votes away from Hillary as much as he would from Bush. He's a liberal democrat.
2. Clark has an ego. If he runs, he'll run to win.

The former 4 star General and NATO Supreme Commander......

I've always thought that was a silly moniker. "Supreme Commander".

Well i never smoked pot, but I think with the help of the press and Democrat Operatives Clark could peel off a few votes in key states. If Clark could pick up 5 electoral votes then Bush would be in trouble. I also agree that the economy is also a factor and after watching the morning news this morning you would believe we are in a depression.

He signs that ban, he looses in 2004. I despise Hillary Clinton but will vote for her with GLEE if Bush signs the AWB.

Welcome (back) to FR, birdbrain.

Now this I agree with. Conyers did everything but give Dean his endorsement the other week when he stopped by his fundraiser.

Dean's not one of the establishment. He's not a Klinton, and Klinton's buddies don't like that.

Speaking of Dean being a threat. Right now I have one candidate beating Bush(unless things change in the economy) and one other coming within 12 electoral votes. I have Dean winning 296-242 and Gephardt almost winning with 263-275.
