Puke politics: Hugh Hewitt on Democratic lying, buffoonery in Calif. recall, beyond
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | Wednesday, September 10, 2003 | Hugh Hewitt

The chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Terry McAuliffe, has to be paid at least in part by Republicans. His buffoonery never stops, and he never appears on national television without the GOP gaining ground in the public opinion wars.

Now he has an understudy, California Democratic Party Chairman Art Torres. Together, these two have set a level of performance for party hacks so low as to make all future occupants of their offices appear skilled beyond belief.

On Sunday's "Meet the Press" appearance, McAuliffe first admitted to routinely lying whenever he makes electoral predictions. His job is to say the Democrats are going to win, he said, no matter what the facts are in any particular race. This wonderful moment of candor for McAuliffe establishes what everyone has known for a long time – this Clinton-trained, Clinton-appointed talking head is a liar, and he's not even ashamed to admit it. Give him credit for telling the truth just this once. It will be a useful clip to save and play the next time he unleashes a parade of falsehoods.

McAuliffe followed up this stunning admission with a description of Arnold Schwarzenegger as pro-choice, pro-homosexual and anti-gun. Now why would a practiced partisan like McAuliffe bother to describe Arnold this way? Because he's counting on the Tombots to throw the California recall to Cruz Bustamante. Terry McAuliffe is counting on the die-hard McClintockistas to deliver the day to Cruz and the way left politics that Cruz represents.

Art Torres has been studying the Clinton-McAuliffe technique and, Friday last, he trotted it out on "Hardball with Chris Matthews," opposite of the almost invariably upbeat and courteous California Congressman David Dreier.

But Dreier was on the hunt for Torres' scalp Friday, and he got it with an assist from Matthews. Torres had labeled Arnold a "known sexual predator" earlier in the week, and neither Matthews or Dreier would let this scurrilous charge from a bottom-feeder pass, and credit to both of them for pressing the matter. Confronted with his shameful remarks, Torres could only filibuster and talk loudly over Dreier and past Matthews.

Both exchanged knowing looks that told the audience that Torres is part of the diseased hierarchy of the California Democratic Party – one that counts the hate-filled operative Bob Mulholland and the accent-attacking Gray Davis among its leadership. Torres just put on prime-time display his own brand of repugnant tactics, the sort which Democratic Attorney General Bill Lockyer – himself a screamer and a schemer – has branded "puke politics."

As Campaign 2004 gears up, the Democratic Party is deep into a swamp of hard-left politics and brass-knuckled machine tactics. Contrast these performances with the upbeat optimism of Arnold and the dignified call to continued resolve in the war against the terrorists issued by the president on Sunday night. It is a comparison that bodes very well for the center-right in California and across the country.

What McAuliffe and Torres are telling you is that neither of them, nor the party they represent, nor the eventual nominee of that party for the president can be trusted to tell the truth. Not in small things and most certainly not in large ones.

My first choice is McClintock, but I will certainly not do anything that would help Davis stay in office, or elect Bustamante

The above is the first sentence of my post. In an ideal world he has all the qualities, and is closest to my ideologies. The last thing AS wants, is to be known as the Gov. when it metaphorically slides into the Pacific Ocean. The dims OTOH will just keep doing business as usual, and when failure comes, as it will, they will blame every one but themselves, and find a convenient scapegoat!

Beautiful take on McAwful's rant on Arnie, Gramps.

One must engage in prodigious intellectual gymnastics to sort out the whys and wherefores from the Clinton characters' motormouth lies.

"I will kill and butcher every evil capitalist in California if I get to stay in office!" Gray Davis circa September, 2003!

Funny, Hugh doesn't seem to dispute McAuliffe's charge. Why not, since Terry's a liar?

Because Arnold Schwarzenegger is "pro-choice, pro-homosexual and anti-gun," and Republican whiz kids like Hugh who are out of touch with California's conservopopulism are in a fit over their inability to get McClintock supporters to kiss the lipsticked pig.

There is one more true charge that McAuliffe omitted... that Arnold Schwarzenegger is soft on Illegal Aliens. The last thing the Democrats want is a stark choice between McClintock and Cruz Bustamante where Illegals are the central issue. Ironically, it's also the last thing the Republican Party leadership desires.

Hugh Hewitt has been Missing in Action while the fight against Illegals has floundered due to the sabotage of the Republican Party in California. We've been warning for years about La Raza, la reconquista, MEChA, matricula consular IDs, Proposition #187, and the crisis all of this represents in California. Hugh has responded with precious irrelevancies about how legal Latino immigrants are natural Republicans, ignoring the civil war that's brewing here, and the Aztlan fifth column working its way up the ladders of power in the California and National Democrat Party.

It's the Illegals, Hugh. Get it straight. They are the problem.

The same week that Gray Davis signed a bill authorizing valid California Driver's Licenses for Illegals, eight Democrat Presidential candidates promised a national Amnesty for Illegals in the first-ever Spanish language Presidential debate. The Republican leadership has been stunning in their lack of criticism of the Democrats' race to surrender to Illegals.

Cruz Bustamante is indeed the barbarian on behalf of the Illegals, and he is within the gate.

Problem is, the very Republicans who've let him get this far are the ones now telling us that we have no choice but to vote for their boy Arnold, for fear of Cruz.

Too bad Hugh Hewitt has no credibility on this matter, having squandered it by parroting RNC talking point alibis for their failure to fight Illegals.

Hugh, you're in no position to guilt-trip me about the La Raza threat you've never had the wits or courage to honestly address in the three years I've been listening to your show.

You want my vote for Arnold, Hugh? What about Frank and Duane, since you're on vacation?

Call on Schwarzenegger to join the referendum against Illegal Alien drivers' licenses, and to repudiate his plans to lobby Washington to legalize "undocumented immigrants." Until he does these things, my vote is lost to him, and his handlers have no one to blame but themselves for their inability to get my ballot and the ballots of hundreds of thousands of others.

In the meantime, I'm more solidly for McClintock by the day. Arnold is a less appealing candidate with every utterance.

Go back to the drawing board, rethink your electoral calculus, and try again.

This was underscored and writ large during that "debate" last night. What shameful disgraces the lot of them were.

Bravo. Yours is one of the best posts I have read in five years on this forum. You speak the truth, sir.

I am supporting McClintock but have said all along I will decide at the last minute how I will be casting my ballot. I am keeping an open mind, and want the whole thing to play out on all sides. However, unless Arnold gets on board and vocally supports the SB60 referendum, and repudiates comments by his spokespeople regarding watering down the California's initiative/referendum process, he will leave me no choice but to withhold my vote.

I refuse to vote for a person I cannot trust.

Hugh Hewitt is using his considerable skills in the service of the enemies of the center-right.

How?

By dishonestly defining Schwarzenegger as in any way within that coalition.

Tell me about it. I was even told to run along to DU on this board a few weeks ago. LOL.

Thanks for quotes from Hugh - to keep a record of his disingenuous support for entrenched CA GOP crookedness.

Why not have an honest debate this weekend between the two to find common ground and possibly a resolution to Republican differences? Arnold so far has refused the offer.

It is increasingly evident to me that the rats are promoting McClintock for the very reason Hugh mentions above. I am hearing this sort of thing all over now, that if the Person speaking were a pubbie, they would vote for Tom because he represents the party the best, blah, blah, blah.
