What about how the French so enthusiastically facilitated the Nazis with the rouding up of the Jews-- where are the cartoons about that?

And the French weren't nice in Vietnam either. The French have been ruthless imperialists and yet somehow they imagine themselves to be the country where human rights are most respected. The coming muslim majority in France will put to rest that myth once and for all.

BINGO!

These holier than thou jerks can't keep their grandparents alive when the heat goes up a few degrees.

But then they are just like Nazi Germany who's Social Security program was to shoot you when you reached 67 years of age.

Because it's their socialist ideals of government that created these deaths.

And they stick their noses up at anyone that disagrees with them.

No one is "laughing" at the death of 15,000 (almost 5,000 in Italy also) but are laughing at their hubris, their arrogance, their smug attitudes about how much better they are.

The French and the EU dares lecture the US about 300 deaths of our troops in Iraq while 15,000 die of a small heat wave?

Socialism is a failure. And that is a laughing matter since most of us intelligent people with true common sense have spent decades pointing that out.

If you know any Brits, tell them to emigrate over here

I'd prefer they stayed to fight for their country. No fight is completely hopeless.

Screw 'em, I'm secretly hoping they ally themselves with China and North Korea, so we can give them to Britain once and for all after the next great war.

I hope he helps in the campaign, too. He certainly was a welcome voice yesterday, in the wake of that dem "debate" the other night, and then HRC and her air quality charges.

BTW, I will correct my post (tired last night?!) from "they're elderly" to "THEIR elderly". yikes

Undoubtedly there were some innocent people who died because of the 1973 coup or who were killed during the years of Pinochet's dictatorship, but Pinochet yielded power peacefully and there can be little doubt that Chile is better off today than if Allende had been able to continue his efforts to turn Chile into a communist dictatorship.

One good indicator of quality of life is the infant mortality rate. According to this year's World Almanac, Chile has the lowest rate in South America, only a little higher than that of the U.S. Figures (per 1,000 live births):

U.S.: 6.7
Chile: 9.1
Uruguay: 14.2
Argentina: 17.2
Colombia: 23.2
Venezuela: 24.6
Brazil: 35.9
Peru: 38.2
Bolivia: 57.5

Good data, thanks. Is there an online link for that? I've be curious to see Cuba's numbers - and would wonder if they were real.

Another good data source when refuting those arguing for Communists is Rummel's Democide web site, here:

In particular, the detailed table often comes in handy, here:

Infant mortality rates are probably available online somewhere, but I don't know where. The World Health Organization website has a link for country-by-country data for infant deaths (by cause and by age in days) but doesn't seem to provide the ratio of deaths to live births.

The rate given for Cuba in The World Almanac is 7.3. Whether they've doctored the figures, I don't know.

The figures for the other remaining Communist countries are as follows:

China: 27.2
Laos: 91
North Korea: 27.8 (South Korea's is 7.6)
Vietnam: 29.3.

For the former Communist countries, the rate for Russia is 19.8; the rates for the other former Soviet republics range from 12.3 for Estonia to 82.7 for Azerbaijan and 114.8 for Tajikistan.

Some former Communist countries in Eastern Europe have rates similar to the US or to Western Europe (Slovenia at 4.5, Croatia at 7.1, Hungary at 8.8, Poland at 9.2) while others are somewhat higher (Serbia and Montenegro at 17.9, Romania at 18.9, Bosnia and Hercegovina at 23.5, Albania at 38.6)

Some Third World countries which had Marxist regimes for a time which have very high rates today are:
Afghanistan 144.8
Angola 191.7
Ethiopia 98.6
Mozambique 138.6.

Angola may have the worst rate of any country.

The post that I responded to first did. #7 and it got removed. And with my first response I got lambasted. Who cares. I don't take your response as I did the others.

I agree with your assessment of the French. They're ungrateful arrogant scumbags. And their government is to blame for the 15,000 deaths. How they could allow all these people to die of heat no less is disgusting and I would stuff this in their faces every chance I got.

If the French are making jokes about 9/11..then perhaps they think the thousands of dead Frenchies dead in the recent heat wave are funny too.

Oh I'm sure the Frogs just laughed their arses off.

You reread the posts. I don't need any more reasons to dislike the French. Do you get it?
