Retired Gen. Wesley Clark already appears to be very competitive in a new national poll released Saturday just days after he became the 10th Democratic presidential candidate.

Clark was among the leaders of the Democratic candidates in the Newsweek Poll and was not far behind President Bush in a head-to-head matchup in the poll taken only days after entering the race.

"Elk don't know how many legs a horse has" ?. Or something like that from the Jeremirah Johnson novel. Decoy, stalking horse, scarecrow, smoke and mirrors, etc. If I were the rest of the candidates I'd be beyound pissed. Think they will express their displeasure, not! Shows what pussies they are.

A frontal lobotomy is is in the air. Oops, the Clintons/DNC took care of that for Clark so Dean will go after the medulla oblongata and put Clark to rest.

A nation-wide poll doesn't mean sh!t when it comes to primaries. It's all about the individual states, especially right now. A winner of a couple of primaries in the beginning can kill the chances of the rest of the bunch. Clark will have a hard time beating Dean if Dean pulls of several wins.

Wesley Clark has been lionized by the media.

With a mediocre Democratic field and little to write about, the press could type in their stories from their usual watering holes.

And the know nothings, the folks who two weeks ago could not have told you who Wesley Clark was, respond to polls by echoing the one name they can remember.

It is easy to write an article about will he or won't he. Heck, you don't need to do any research to find out his stances on the issues, after all he has not yet declared.

It is what journalism students learn in Reportage 402, aka Independent Study with Jason Blair.

But now that he is in the mix, his blood will be in the water and the reportorial sharks will start ripping this guy to shreds.

And his numbers will predictably drop.

Wesley Clark is a "Clinton" puppet! If he is at the head of the Democrat list so quickly it does not say much for the other nine dwarf "traitor" Democrat candidates. If the American people are so dumb and foolish to vote for any Democrat, they will be voting for the demise of America and their own lives and the lives of their children!

It is hard to argue that Iraq was a disaster when, in the crappy little war you, General Clark, presided over, the most powerful military on the planet took 78 days of aerial bombardment to destroy just over a dozen tanks; hard to argue that our boys shouldn't be getting picked off on the ground in Iraq when in your war they stayed up at 15,000 feet, nights only, bombing hospitals, commuter trains, refugee convoys, the Chinese embassy, etc; hard to argue that Iraq wasn't worth it when, by most accounts, there's more ethnic cleansing (Muslims against Christians) going on in "liberated" Kosovo than there was in Slobo's day.

Write to the Editor of your local paper - the sooner this is pounded in the blooder the primary will, be weakening Dean and Wes.

This poll is nothing more than a sign of name recognition. More voters have actually heard of Wesley Clark (before Weaselly entered the race, 2/3 of RAT voters couldn't name a single RAT candidate), and there hasn't been any time for ANY bad news about him (of which there is a lot) to get out, so many people automatically chose him. Once more information starts to circulate about what a freak he is (and when he bombs in the debate next week, if he even shows up), his numbers will drop quite a bit.

When you compare our President in crisis and what W. "No thrill" Clark has done in the face of adversity, President Bush has the clear advantage. As many have noted, the fence sitters need to be informed. Clark may have Clinton backing but the President has his own "ace to play"...in six months the economy will be ringing quite loudly irregardless of the media's attempts to suppress it. Supply side tax cuts will exhonerate the President!

(Drudge Report Excerpt)
As Nato's K-For peacekeepers prepared to enter the province on 12 June, they discovered the Russians had got there first.
A contingent of 200 troops, stationed in Bosnia, was already rolling towards Pristina airport.

'Third World War'
General Wesley Clark, Nato's supreme commander, immediately ordered 500 British and French paratroopers to be put on standby to occupy the airport.
''I called the [Nato] Secretary General [Javier Solana] and told him what the circumstances were,'' General Clark tells the BBC programme Moral Combat: Nato at War.
''He talked about what the risks were and what might happen if the Russian's got there first, and he said: 'Of course you have to get to the airport'.
''I said: 'Do you consider I have the authority to do so?' He said: 'Of course you do, you have transfer of authority'.''

But General Clark's plan was blocked by General Sir Mike Jackson, K-For's British commander.
"I'm not going to start the Third World War for you," he reportedly told General Clark during one heated exchange.
General Jackson tells the BBC: ''We were [looking at] a possibility....of confrontation with the Russian contingent which seemed to me probably not the right way to start off a relationship with Russians who were going to become part of my command.''

Russian plans
The Russian advance party took the airport unopposed. The world watched nervously.
A senior Russian officer, General Leonid Ivashev, tells the BBC how the Russians had plans to fly in thousands of troops.
''Let's just say that we had several airbases ready. We had battalions of paratroopers ready to leave within two hours,'' he said.

Amid fears that Russian aircraft were heading for Pristina, General Clark planned to order British tanks and armoured cars to block the runways to prevent any transport planes from landing.
General Clark said he believed it was ''an appropriate course of action''. But the plan was again vetoed by Britain.

Hillary! will run on the VP ticket...

If that's the case Clark better not embark on any "small, frail aircraft tours" and grow eyes in the back of his head.

It's hard to take any poll of Democrats seriously when just a couple of weeks ago, a poll showed that about 2/3 of Democrats could not name even one Democrat primary candidate.

Gosh, you throw a candidate into the soup that has made his position known on nothing and he shoots straight to the top. Is Clark that "unknown democratic candidate" in the polls that always beats Bush? Now, if Clark can only maintain that platform.....

I think she's going to accept the VP slot, then depending on how Bush is polling, one of these things will happen:

Bush polling badly: Clark will have a major health problem forcing him to drop out, & she'll step up.

Bush polling well: Clark takes the fall in 04, but Hillary lines up the nomination in 08.

Except Clark was buddy buddy with a war criminal...Ratko Mladic was Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic's army chief throughout the Bosnian war. Along with Mr Karadzic he has come to symbolise the Serb campaign of ethnic cleansing of Croats and Muslims and is one of the most wanted suspects from the Bosnia conflict. He has been indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal on charges of genocide and other crimes against humanity - including the massacre of thousands of Muslim men from the town of Srebrenica in 1995.

Meanwhile Scumbag Clinton is calling for the arrest of Ratko Mladic whom his boy Gen. Wesley Clark played hat trade with.

Clinton urges reconciliation in Bosnia, arrest of war crimes suspects

Sat Sep 20,11:55 AM ET Add World - AFP to My Yahoo!

SREBRENICA, Bosnia-Hercegovina (AFP) - Former US president Bill Clinton (news - web sites) urged reconciliation among Bosnia's three ethnic communities at the site of Europe's worst atrocity since World War II, calling for the arrest of those responsible for the Srebrenica massacre.

"For much of its history Bosniacs (Muslims), Croats and Serbs have lived together in peace," Clinton said at a ceremony marking the opening of a memorial cemetery for the more than 7,000 victims, attended by some 20,000 Bosnian Muslims.

He stressed that the US-brokered peace agreement ending Bosnia's 1992-1995 war, which pitted the three ethnic communities against each other, gave people "a chance but not the guarantee to live that way once again."

"I hope you can build on the bedrock of Srebrenica in Bosnia-Hercegovina a place where all children are safe and loved and able to live out their dreams," he stressed, speaking on a stage in front of which the remains of 107 Srebrenica victims, wrapped in green cloth, were placed on the ground before burial.

But the former president stressed that those allegedly responsible for the massacre, which he described as a "genocidal madness," were still on the run, more than eight years after Srebrenica.

"Those most responsible for the atrocities, the leaders have not been apprehended. The search for them must continue until they are," Clinton said, in a clear reference to Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic.

Meanwhile Scumbag Clinton is calling for the arrest of Ratko Mladic whom his boy Gen. Wesley Clark played hat trade with.

On August 27, 1994, Clark, then director of strategy, plans and policy for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, went to Banja Luka - and met with Ratko Mladic, the bloodstained military leader of the Bosnian Serbs. (My note: everybody apparently forgets that before Serbia's the aggression in Bosnia the same Ratko Mladic was military commander of the Serbian army ("Yugoslav Peoples Army") in Croatia and conducted large scale massacres of Croatian civillians there, especially in the ethnically "cleansed of Croatian population "Krajina", another Serb-proclaimed "republic"). The State Departement had advised against the meeting, on account of Mladic's well-documented war crimes in Gorazde, Srebrenica and Sarajevo. Still, Clark and Mladic had a jolly time. Mladic gave Clark some plum brandy and a pistol with a Cyrillic inscription, and the two merrily swapped military hats. What do you do with a man with that kind of moral cluelessness? Promote him.
