Bill Maher: Mel Gibson and Tom DeLay Are Anti-Semites

Controversial TV talker Bill Maher attacked religious conservatives in an early morning interview on Wednesday, claiming that movie star Mel Gibson and House Majority Leader Tom DeLay were "anti-Semitic."

"I do think Mel Gibson is anti-Semitic," Maher told radio host Don Imus. "So, by the way, is Tom DeLay. So, by the way, are all these Christian right people who pretend to be friends of Israel."

Then Maher accused Christian fundamentalists of befriending Israel only because, ultimately, they'd like to see Jews die:

"You know, this is the sickest thing. They go over to Israel and they're not for the Bush road map to peace over there in the Middle East. Because they don't want Arabs in Jerusalem – because what they say is the Bible says that when Jesus comes back for the Second Coming, Jerusalem has to be just the way he left it."

The host of HBO's "Real Time" continued:

"It can't be full of Arabs, because there were no Arabs then. It has to be full of Jews. Because when the Second Coming takes place and we all go up to heaven, the Jews have a place in that little play – which of course is to die. The Jews have to die when Jesus comes back."

Then the TV talker adopted the voice of a mock movie director and announced, "Places, everybody. Where are my Jews? You have a place to play in this, and that's dying – or converting."

Earlier in the interview, Maher charged that President Bush had misled the American people about Saddam Hussein's ties to terrorists, saying that any affiliation between the Iraqi dictator and folks like Osama bin Laden was purely social.

"It's so preposterous," he told Imus. "I mean, I always said it was like the link between – you know, they keep putting Sug Knight in jail because he associates with gang members."

The HBO host explained:

"Well, yes. He's a black guy from the hood who was in the rap industry. Of course he is going to know a few people with a criminal record. And Saddam Hussein is an Arab. Of course he's going to know a few terrorists socially."

What an idiot. Just because the Jews do not accept Jesus as the coming of God as prophecized in the Old Testament, does not mean that the Jews would not accept the "second" coming of the Savior as the fullfillment of Old Testament prophecy.

As always, Mr. Imus waited until Mr. Maher was off the air before he bashed him.

Is it not true that some Christian churches teach that in the end times a lot of Jews will be converted and accept Jesus as Truth?

Is it also not true that some Christian churches look forward to the end times?

If I were looking at it from a Jewish point of view, I think I would be a little wary of people who support my state because they hope that Jesus will come soon and sort of eliminate the essence of my state, namely its Jewishness.

People like Bill Maher - who is just vile, in my opinion - can't be taken seriously when they say things like he says here. They demonstrate their ignorance and malevolence every time they open their mouth.

Before the first coming of Christ 2000 years ago, with reference to the "spiritual" categorization of people groups there were the Jews and the Gentiles. After Christ, spiritually speaking, there is now the Church, the Jew, and the Gentile.

Christ's death on the cross opened the door for all people - Jews and Gentiles - to come to God through Christ. Jesus is the way to God for all people. That is what the temple curtain ripping in two symbolized in the gospels.

The main issue today (since Christ, in other words) is not ethnic background (Jewish vs all others - Gentiles) but those in the body of Christ (true believers in Christ, those who have placed their faith and trust in Him as Savior, believing that His death alone can atone for our sins) vs all others - everyone who rejects Christ. If a person rejects Christ, it doesn't matter whether that person is Jewish or Gentile; what is paramount is that such a person has rejected the only way of salvation there is, and as such, is going to hell when he dies.

Christ's second coming is two-part:

First, the rapture, which could occur at any time. In this event Christ comes from heaven to the clouds above the earth, and raises the bodies of all the dead believers, and "catches up" all the bodies of living believers, and gathers both groups to Himself. Note, the issue is that only believers are gathered together with him. Some of those believers will be Jewish, while the vast majority will be Gentiles. This group will then be taken to heaven with Christ.

During the next 7 years, a terrible time of tribulation will take place on the earth. The only people left behind will be unbelievers. Some of these unbelievers will be Jewish, the vast majority will be Gentiles. God will select and seal 144,000 Jews for the special purpose of proclaiming Jesus as the Savior of mankind. These Jewish evangelists will preach Christ and convert a great many people, Jews and Gentiles alike, to Christ. Terrible times await believers in this 7-year period. Many will lose their lives to the Antichrist. The price of being a believer in this future time period is almost certain death.

Following this 7-year period Christ will personally return to the earth to rule from Jerusalem. There are many events that occur in connection with this second part of His return, too much to go into detail here.

Sometimes a condition of parole is to not associate with known criminals. Violate your parole and you go back to jail.

Felons cannot have a gun. There are other prohibitions on their rights and actions.

Saddam Hussein was like a paroled felon when he was permitted to remain in power after Gulf War I. Former President Bush did not have troops march into Baghdad because that was not what President Bush had "negotiated" with Europe and the Middle East. This is what happens when one rules by world consensus.

Instead, Saddam was restricted in his military weaponry and in his chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons development. The UN was to oversee this. He continually violated the agreements (his probation) yet he flaunted it. He kicked the inspectors out; try doing that with a parole officer. When illegal scuds were launched at our troops in Gulf War II, he proved that he had violated the weapons agreements.

This is an excellent example of the socialist-liberal-dummycrap philosophy...Whatever is wrong, embrace it and call it right. Whahever is right, condemn it and call it wrong.

I believe the Bible warns of end of time deceivers, doesn't it?

I have always found Maher to be arrogant beyond bearing and have only watched Real Time when Ann is on. I'm sorry I miised this on IMUS thios morning (but frankly Imus is becoming so anti-Bush Admin that he is getting hard to take). After reading this report, I think Maher has lost it - and won't be back on Imus any time soon!

Bill Mahar is an IDIOT that make a lot of money atacking good people. As long as HBO has this type of hate mongers it will not be turned on in my house.

I cancelled HBO when it had Dennis Miller on each week, slamming the hell out of the Republicans and especially President Bush the Elder.

I was about to consider getting it again when they put this new virulent anti-everything-good-and-decent a-hole Maher, or what ever his name.

HBO will get nothing from me EVER, except maybe I will pirate their channel and give it to neighbors for free.

PS- I realize Dennis Miller is now a pretty cool dude, and am amazed at his turnaround.

He certainly seemed to be on his knees orally satisfying Brian Warner (aka Marilyn Munster) when he was a guest on PC on ABC (with GG Liddy) (and no, those aren't typos, they are satire).

Bill Maher is antireligion, it doesn't seem confusing that he would use some agitprop to insult one religion to say that they insult another religion.

Sorry to say, but Imus has gone semi-senile. He tries so hard to portray the pro-alQaeda left in a good light, (simply in his deluded effort to attract more Democratic listeners) that he has turned off right thinking Americans.

Tis a pity. They took him off WPHT am-the big talker) here in Philadelphia about three weeks ago and added a great morning guy, Michael Smirconish, and this area is better off for it, I'd say.

Maher is nothing if not ignorant. Mel Gibson is Catholic, so I highly doubt he holds the belief Mr. Maher attributes to him. Besides which, Maher doesn't even understand the belief he's talking about.

Curious. That statement overlooks a simple fact, the Jews were also Arabs.

This doesn't suprise me in the least. Those making the anti-semitic accusation are often weakly masked anti-Christian bigots...

>>"As I recall, when ABC dropped Maher's "Politically Incorrect" (even though it was), some conservatives came to his defense on First Amendment grounds. I can't recall who these conservatives were."

I can remember two:
Rush Limbaugh
Sean Hannity

Isn't it amazing who all is given a high-paying job, with so little talent? Maher is just a talentless little troll who couldn't make it as an actor, so he has to keep being more and more outrageous in order to be noticed. Just like Madonna.
