"Police have evidence that Scott Peterson devised home-made anchors to sink his wife's body in San Francisco Bay. A crime report, apparently released by accident, indicates that the killing occurred at the Peterson home in Modesto."Outstanding catch there, Mags! Two critical points...'Police have evidence .....' AND 'A crime report, released by accident, indicates the killing occurred at the Peterson home in Modesto'. We kinda know about the devised homemade anchors, but precisely what were the indications that the killing occurred at the Peterson home'? Wish the judge would lift the gag order. He should, with so many leaks of late.

I just knew they would eventually find an anchor and more evidence if they kept searching. LE are determined to get this guy. This crime is particularly gruesome. I'll bet Snott wishes he had asked for a divorce now. Who's gonna bet me that he cracks soon???

Wow thanks for the Globe article Vel. I have ALWAYS said that Laci was weighted, dumped and that the baby was expelled from the womb as it deteriorated. I know they said the baby was in good condition. What a great Forensic expert they have quoted. He is one that has worked within the culture of satanic rituals.!! I believe every word. I also have NEVER thought that tape (loose at that) around the baby's neck and under the arm was anything but debris.

I remember that article Maggie. Do any of you remember when Ted Rowlands said he told Scott that the Detectives had said they figured they'd be making an arrest within week? And Ted R. asked Snott if he was worried. Snott says "No, They don't have any thing on me"!! I recall Rowlands saying that that was an odd answer. He doesn't say, well why should I worry, I never did anything. He says, they don't have anything on me!! What a disgusting POS he is.!!

Yes, as a matter of fact, that was part of the discussion when people here first heard that Geragos was pushing a satanic cult killing theory. Some people said, "If a cult did it, why would they greatly increase their chances of being caught with the body by driving Laci 80+ miles, all the way to the Bay?"
I mean, if we think about it, we know Laci wasn't going anywhere on her own that day, except possibly to points in her neighborhood. So someone else took her to the Bay--either dead or alive. (Probably dead.) WHO has the greater interest in getting the body as far away from Scott's known haunts (home, etc.) as possible? Scott, of course. Strangers would be INCREASING their chances of exposure by taking the body all those miles. Scott would be DECREASING his chances of exposure by taking the body as many miles as he could get from his own neighborhood.

This guy sounds good.
It almost sounds like Laci's killer knew about the phenomenon of coffin birth, and strove to prevent it from happening. Or he had some far sicker reasons for putting tape there, where the baby would have come out. Almost like a symbolic internment of the baby.
I had never heard of coffin birth till I read about it in this case. Scott has no known medical background. Makes me wonder how much the killer prepared for this--a lot, apparently.

Spunky, are you sure the article said the pants were light BLUE? All I could find was "light colored".
To: runningbear
Ususally, and find it odd that Mark Dalton, Geragos's law partner, would be fired? What I heard today, was that Dalton disagreed with the direction the defense was going in Snotts case. Everyday it's something different, hard to know what to believe!

I do not think Scott cared who or what the woman was like, pretty or not pretty, I think he cheated more than we know at this time. I think he never was commited to the marriage. He liked being a playboy and pretending he was a RICH playboy at that!!

FIVE cell phone accounts????? This guy has some serious splainin to do!!

Personally, I don't think this has any significance.
If we accept that before Laci's death, Scott was having an affair with Amber and was promising to someday marry her -- which seems to be the case, then *if* he did NOT kill Laci and is perfectly innocent, it seems reasonable to me that he would still seek Amber's comfort after Laci's disappearance.
On the other hand, if he had killed Laci, it seems to me like it would have been more sensible for him to have minimized contact with Amber in the aftermath of that. He had to know he would be a suspect. Anyone who watches TV would know that. Contacting Amber in any way would be an irrational act for a guilty person.
In my mind, his frequent contacts with Amber are exculpatory. That's not to say that I don't think he did it -- I do. I just don't think the frequency of his contacts with Amber goes to show that. If I were the prosecutor, I'd introduce that, but I wouldn't try to do much with it.
To: The Other Harry
Although your argument about Scott's contacting Amber is logical - I disagree with the premise. You are assuming that he is "rational" and would have understood that, as the husband, he would be under suspicion. Scott probably has an inflated (maybe even grandiose) view of himself. He likely believed (and perhaps still does) that he is so much smarter than the police that there's no way he could be a suspect, let along get caught. Not to mention the fact that everyone (friends and family) know how "wonderful" he is and, therefore, they would knock themselves out defending and supporting him. I certainly agree that the calling is audacious and makes no sense from our perspectives. From Scott's perspective, however, it may make perfect sense.
