Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!
That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me.
It isn't every day
good fortune comes me way!
I never thought the future would be fun for me!
And if I had a bugle
I would blow it to add a sort
o' how's your father's touch.
But since I left me bugle at home
I simply have to say
Thank you very, very, very much!
Thank you very, very, very much!

Thank you for your donation!

"In a news release, the state Democratic Party also said the Free State Project wants to eliminate fire departments, environmental protections and stop the state from accepting federal health care for seniors."

And additionally, they claimed that the Free State Project would increase the collision of asteroids into the earth, increase global warming, foster wars in Third World countries, encourage more terrorist attacks against the United States, eat small children for breakfast, and worst of all, reduce the attempts for a bunch of pantywaisted control freak miscreants to ruin another state, only to have the remainder tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail.

Seriously, it would be nice to see the side of the spectrum opposite of the California fiasco. See if another laboratory of democracy shows a different way. I wonder why the idea of liberty scares the Democrats so much?

I have heard the libertarian party wanting to eliminate a lot of functions the government performs, and I have yet to find one to disagree with. But I have never heard the party take the position that they want to eliminate fire departments, presumably for private, for hire, or subscription based fire fighting forces.

Has the LP really taken such a position?

This stuff about eliminating fire departments and schools is just a bunch of FUD from the RATS for the sheeple. The RATS are scared to death the free-staters may make some changes.

"Craig Benson is a loose cannon, and this is what results when a loose cannon doesn't have the common sense to think before he speaks," Sullivan said. "It's another Craig Benson folly we're going to have to live with."

Is the Governor supposed to bar these people from moving to NH? What an idiot. If for no other reason, I'm sure the state can use the taxes.

So, how long until the Freestaters realize that their political power, like the political power of NH natives is going to be swamped by hard core, tax evading leftists moving there from MA...voting for tax raising hard core leftists?

While NH is a wonderful place, I think they made a bad decision...

So the Republican governor supports libertarians and the Democrats are bitching and moaning about them. Kinda puts into perspective the motives of the virulent anti-libertarians around here, eh?

Gov. Benson is a Republican, and a very common sense libertarian guy: limited government, low taxes, self-determination, and liberty.

Anything that has the Democrats in this advanced a stage of their attack mode can't be too bad of a thing! I think I am rather looking forward to this! :)

As for some folk's attitudes, jmc813, I think their words speak volumes.

said Democratic Party Chairwoman Kathy Sullivan. "Craig Benson should explain to the voters why he is supporting such a radical, antifamily agenda."

No, I'm sorry Ms. Sullivan, it is the Democraps that are the ones with trully 'radical, antifamily agenda. Not to mention anti-freedom, anti-liberty, anti-Constitution, anti-individual, anti-LIFE agenda!

They may be thinking of going to all volunteer fire departments. I believe New Hampshire is the most conservative state in New England. IIRC, the state motto is "Live Free or Die". Unfortunately, it is bordered by governments with socialist proclivities, i.e. Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts and Canada.

So, how long until the Freestaters realize that their political power, like the political power of NH natives is going to be swamped by hard core, tax evading leftists moving there from MA...voting for tax raising hard core leftists?

About 2008 or 2010, by my reckoning in another post. If the FSP continued recruitment of porcupines continues after the migration has begun until those years when it's projected to have installed the first 20,000 resident in the state, the additional numbers can either climb aboard and join up with their porcupine pals in the Granite State if needed to offset the problem you describe, or can carry the effort to other states if they so choose, with some perhaps replacing those in NH who'd have really preferred a western location. At that point, they should number around three quarters of a million, given the continued rate of growth, and that's a figure greater than the number of registered Repubublicans and Democrats in NH combined now, with a few independent voters thrown in for good measure- and some of them would likely be FSP sympathetic. And of course, it's possible that the number of new Porcupines will grow at an even faster rate as the movement progresses and receives more national attention, as it just has.

So, how long until the Freestaters realize that their political power, like the political power of NH natives is going to be swamped by hard core, tax evading leftists moving there from MA...voting for tax raising hard core leftists?

Could the FSP really attract that many member/voters? Well, When Bush I ran against Clinton on his *No New Taxes* and gun control/import ban platform, one American voter in five chose an Independent from the Reform Party, a little Jug-eared Texan who liked giving flip chart presentations, rather than hold their nose again and pick between Tweedledum and Tweedledumber.

While NH is a wonderful place, I think they made a bad decision...

I agree, to a point. I think our initially limited numbers would have shown results quicker in Wyoming or Montana, though NH is an admittedly beautiful and probable more *comfortable* locale for resettlement- but I am not in this for comfort; others appear to be. I do hate the idea of having all our eggs in one basket though, and once the efort takes hold elsewhere besides NH, even if to a more limited degree and with far less greater overall results initially expected, then I'll breathe a lot easier.

Indeed, and has a swell family, too. And his butler is a absolutely fascinating character.
