The next 5 days will be busy-- Jindal on Saturday, Arnold on Tuesday.
To: GraniteStateConservative
Any idea why Ieyoub and Leach have much lower favorable-to-unfavorable ratios compared to all the other candidates?
To: BlackRazor; GraniteStateConservative
I'm quite surprised at how this election is going. While I won't bet money on it just yet, a GOP sweep of the three gubernatorial races is a distinct possibility.
I forget. Is the election in LA a run-off to establish the final two candidates, or is this a winner-take-all?

This will put huge pressure on the rats. breaux wants to resign with a rat governor, if he can't do that the rats will have to have a primary. The rats are smart enough to fear the primary rule: in our primaries, those on the right vote. In rat primaries, the worst anti American scum vote. This will produce a jack ass that can't win. Hee hee hee!!

I think there is a run off if noone gets a majority. I am surprised at how well Jindal is running. His commercials are terrible, he looks like a little boy. I swear I started off wanting to vote for him but lately he just looks young and callow to me. I know he is a genius, I know he is clean and a pub, but he just looks too damn young to be governor. There is something of the "teacher's pet" about him. I will probably vote for him but damn, can't we get some pubs down here with gravitas. I mean this kid looks one step away from a keg party.

There is something of the "teacher's pet" about him. Oh he's definitely a whiz kid, but think about all those politicians with gravitas . . . so many don't turn out so good, ya know? Probably because that's all they have, an image, no substance . . .
Piyush is the kind of guy who will work quickly to solve all the stupid government problems that are solveable but never get fixed, I think. Is he a natural leader? Maybe not, but where the hell do you want your governor leading you? I've lived (that I remember) under Jock McKernan, Angus King, George Pataki, and Mike Easley . . . I'm still waiting for any of them to lead me, or "their" state, anywhere.

In the insurance commissioners race, Republican Dan Kyle has 25 percent compared to Democrat incumbent Robert Wooleys 16 percent and another 16 percent divided among four other candidates. How the 43 percent undecided break will decide the race. THIS is great news! Kyle can beat Wooley in a run-off. We can't keep letting slimy little rats like Wooley into state offices.

I hate to rain on your optimism, JohnnyZ, but this is DEMOCRAT Louisiana, where 66 percent of the voters hail allegiance to the Democrat Party.
Embattled columnist Robert David Sanders Novak says in his newsletter that while Jindal will finish on top on Saturday, either of the Democrats who makes the general election will defeat him handily. The total Democrat vote for the primary is expected to exceed 51 percent, whereas the total Republican vote will barely top 30 percent, if that much.
Mitch Landrieu, popular brother of the state's junior senator, is expected to sweep the lt. governor's race against a divided Republican field.

This will produce a jack ass that can't win.
Conservative columnist Robert D.S. Novak believes that the Democrats will win the Louisiana governorship, even as they lose the CA recall, and the governorships in KY and MS. Novak thinks either Ieyoub or Blanco will coast to victory over Jindal. The GOP will be totally shut out in LA after Nov. 15, he thinks.

Novak is a pessimistic dick.
Odom will win as will Kennedy the rat Treasurer since he doesn't have an opponent :/ and Landrieu probably will win also but we could take every other race in LA.

The total Democrat vote for the primary is expected to exceed 51 percent, whereas the total Republican vote will barely top 30 percent, if that much. According to the latest poll (above), the GOP is pulling 32% (assume 5% Downer?) while the Democrats -- OF ALL STRIPES COMBINED -- are:
16% Blanco, moderate
15% Ieyoub, liberal
11% Leach, liberal nut
8% Ewing, conservative
50% Total
As we all know, Loosiana voters don't vote party line. There are tons of conservative registered Democrats, especially in Randy Ewing's N. La. base, who vote Republican most of the time, and not just for president and congress.
If Blanco manages to hang on and make the runoff, she'll have to do without a strong black vote in November (MAYBE some serious lovemaking with Cleo could save her). If, as appears likely, either Ieyoub or Leach make the runoff, they won't get the support of most conservatives and many moderates who are supporting Ewing and Blanco. Check out their numbers -- both have High negatives.
Not that Jindal would have the edge in any case, but it'll be a tossup or very close situation, which is dang good considering where we've been with this race. From that point it depends on the Democrat candidate's turnout and whether good old boy conservatives will vote for a little Indian kid.

Any idea why Ieyoub and Leach have much lower favorable-to-unfavorable ratios compared to all the other candidates? Probably because people don't like them :) Also they're liberals in a conservative state. The fact that 46% rate Jindal favorably is HUGH!!! It shows he has totally shattered any kind of racial "glass ceiling" people were talking about and developed wide appeal to conservatives and moderates.

Bobby Jindal would be a shoo in if he changed his last name to Jindoux and said his grand dad is Clifton Chenier

Thanks for the posting, this is a facinating story. The son of immigrants from India becoming a Republican governor of a southern state will be historic, if it winds up happening.

Being a former California resident, I remember that the Mayoral race in L.A. has a run-off between the two top finishers.

Novak is a pessimistic dick. Let's see -- Novak is predicting GOP wins in three out of four closely contested gubernatorial races this fall. And that makes him a "pessimistic dick"? Wow, do you have tough standards!
To: Theodore R.
Conservative columnist Robert D.S. Novak believes that the Democrats will win the Louisiana governorship, even as they lose the CA recall, and the governorships in KY and MS.Well, geez, Theo. Conservative Novak ain't exactly goin' out on a limb, is he? And why do you keep emphasizing how conservative Conservative Novak is?
If I must place a label on Bob Novak, it's "anti-Bush Novak".
