LOL............Ski down ride up and stop and fix the youngins bindings. Gotta be smart these days Dad. Them kiddies will run ya ragged if ya don't. My risk ski trip was out the door of a helo and down to a crash site in Alaska with a 40 pound ruck. Different game when your black diamonds are not present.......

If I could do my life over again I'd try the ski bum instructor thang in the winter.....white water rafting guide in the spring , crew on blue water cruisers in the summer and guide elk & mulie hunts in the fall.

BTW I have been over Engineer Pass many a time from Lake City. My favorite trip.....You did that in a Honda civic ???? You Da Man !

I had already turned in my equipment and was waiting on them. The lift wouldn't let me ride up feet only. Another skier came down and asked if I had two young girls with me and explained to me that they were panicked and sitting it out two lifts up so I started trudging up the slope...all 1.5 miles and 1800 vertical of it in my Georgia boots...I bet I sweated off 10 pounds....I looked like Sasquatch by the time I found them. Ski Patrol kept stopping and telling me I had to get off the slope. I glared at them and they left me alone...lol

When I got there about ready for the defribrillators, the girls were just sitting on their butts weeping. I jury rigged the binding and told her to plow down to the bottom....I tried to slide on my ass most of the way down. After my heart rate got back down to the south side of 200, I felt pretty good and the girls were reassured that "not the mommy" had come to fetch them as was expected. That was one of those, it might kill me but I have no choice moves.

I also camped up there above the Animas creek on a summit and drank sheep feces infected water and got sick as a dog. I used to love the San Juans.
