I thought that the networks dismantled VNS (the organization that did the exit polls) after the 2000 election.

Its more crowded because there are less voting locations open. Adding to the perception of a large turnout?

That's definitely a factor. Those of us in condensed polling palces aren't going to be good guages of turnout.

Well, princess... I must say that from your report, and those of many others on several other threads I've looked at, that I am now truly concerned that there may be a serious situation. Indeed, a failure to vote YES on the recall question is akin to a NO vote on it. While the electronic voters can't seem to miss it, it appears that all of the paper-balloting voters are prone to missing the #1 RECALL question. Whether it will be sufficient to result in that question going down to defeat is impossible to predict, but it has become obvious to those viewing it from afar that there will be some significant numbers of voters who fail to hit YES there.

Perhaps some dough ought to have been spent on getting this message out... but who ought to have spent it?

The exit polls may be off on this one. Alot of the absentee votes were cast more than a week ago. A great number of the voters are absentee. Exit polls only reveal the voters minds on election day.

If absentees are heavily republican as typical, the exit polls may seriously undercount the yes votes, and the pro Arnold votes.

The first exit polling data should be available to the connected at around noon California time. Look for hints in the reporting from CNN and Foxnews starting around then (more stories about one side feeling confident, more stories about what a win for a particular candidate will mean, etc).

This was litigated when Davis tried to make himself a replacement candidate. There is no linkage. Period. The recall question is a separate issue from the replacement candidates.

50% plus 1 vote and Davis is recalled. What happens further down the ballot has no effect on this.

It is important to make public any and all problems, confusion, and/or irregularities to get them on (public)record.

Who to call: your local Democratic office, call the Secretary of States office in Sacramento, your state representative, and CALL YOUR LOCAL PAPER.

Or call the radio station, most importantly, just get it out there and spread the word.

If anyone else knows where people should call, like non-profits that are working with the public on voter concerns, let us know.

The more problems they receive, the more we can gage a scope of what is happening around the state and ultimately what we can do about it.

A friend just told me that FOX is reporting that Los Angeles plans to sit on the ballots until tomorrow at 10am! I'm looking for confirmation.

Fox just reported that LA is going to release their absentee ballot count tonight, but no other numbers till 10:00 AM tomorrow morning.

Is this the announcement that the election is gonna be stolen?

Without LA's numbers in, there is no way to call this election if it's close, even with exit polling.

This is how I like to think of it:

Q1: Do you want to keep Davis or would you rather have ANYBODY ELSE?

Q2: If ANYBODY ELSE wins, who would you like that to be?

You get to vote on Q2, even if you vote to keep Davis.

LA is the big one. Davis needs to win it by a hefty margin to prevail tonight. If it goes into Arnold's column, bid him a la hasta vista.
