A self-taught bear enthusiast who once called Alaskas brown bears harmless was one of two people fatally mauled in a bear attack in the Katmai National Park and Preserve. I nominate this guy for "The Most Wrong Person of the Week" award. Do I hear a second?

Possession or use of firearms or other weapons in all National Park System (NPS) areas is prohibited (except as otherwise provided in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 36 parts 7 (special regulations) and 13 (Alaska regulations). With rare exception (such as times when controlled hunting is allowed) weapons are to be dismantled completely and cased while visiting in NPS areas in the United States. In order to transport weapons through NPS areas they must be dismantled and adequately cased or packed in such a way as to prevent their use. Loaded weapons are subject to confiscation by park authorities.
From the NPS web site. Add it to the list of Unconstitutional Stupid Laws. Perhaps this one should be made a test case and taken to the Supreme Court too.

Bears make good bearskin rugs! People make the best bearskin rugs. The thought of bears making them gives me the grizzlies. I'd think training them to do it would be a real bear of a task.
Just grin and bear it.

(Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary. You have the right to be wrong.)

Tell me it wasn't a 9mm. Hey! Don't knock the 9MM. There's nothing wrong with it that an extra 3mm and a few grains of powder won't fix.

Bear activist killed... I have no particular desire to become any sort of animal "activist," but if I did I think I would steer clear of lions and tigers and bears. In fact if there's a "lion activist" out there right now, I'd advise him to take the rest of the month off. You know how these things always happen in threes. |

Also, forget about using your skateboard.
Sec. 2.20 Skating, skateboards, and similar devices.
Using roller skates, skateboards, roller skis, coasting vehicles, or
similar devices is prohibited, except in designated areas.
And remember, based on the Clinton example they can turn as many million acres as they want to into lands controlled by their sick human-hating rules.

It does teach a lesson that no matter how well you deal with them it can't change the fact that they are meat eaters and you are meat. Sez you! Seigfried & Roy have been working with meat eaters for years and have never had a....never...nev....oh never mind.

Ah, so you're one of those constitutional nuts who believes in the inalienable right "To Arm Bears!"

Has anyone here seen the story about Roy (the magician) being mauled by one of his tigers?
Any animal that is larger than you and has sharp teeth and claws is dangerous. No matter how cute and fuzzy they look, they are dangerous.

Yogi and Boo Boo deserved better.

Don't they usually advise that, if you going to carry a handgun in bear country, it be a minimum of 44 mag. or more?12 gauge with slugs.
