Democrats Clueless About Clinton Curse
October 8, 2003
This California election dealt a huge defeat to Bill Clinton, Gray Davis' top behind-the-scenes advisor. Gray's the latest jinxee in a long line of them from Algore nationally to state races in Hawaii, Minnesota, Maryland and more. When Clinton took office, the Democrats controlled the House and Senate, plus the lion's share of governorships and state legislatures. Now, the GOP holds the whip hand in all of those categories.
The Democrat Party can't win elections if it continues to be the plaything of Bill, Hillary and their handpicked DNC chair Terry McAuliffe. How long are the rank-and-file Democrats going to tolerate this cult of personality? How long are they going to confuse good things that happen to the Clintons with good things happening to the party? When are these Democratic presidential candidates who went out to California to campaign for Davis, too going to see that Clintonism has no political future?
This race was a rejection of liberalism run amok in California for the past 5 1/2 years. It focused on fiscal matters, and on those matters Schwarzenegger is conservative.
A caller named Steve made a point on this recall business that brought up George Washington. We owe everything to Washington. His morality is the sole reason we exist as we do today. His farewell and inaugural speeches are profound, and they are the very antithesis of people putting a party ahead of their nation. That's the assessment many people make when they watch what the modern Democratic Party is doing. This party looks at what's happening in the nation and thinks politics first. I know I should just let them destroy themselves, but I also know they won't listen to anything I say.
They seek to damage a president during wartime, because getting political power back is their one and only priority. Democrats seek to rule this country, not simply govern it. They don't trust the people or elections, which is why they want the power to mandate things rather than go through the legislative process. This is frightening to behold. Just look at how much progress they've made controlling free speech! It appears that they don't really care of the damage they inflict on the nation in the process of getting their grubby fingers back on the reigns. They figure, "We'll fix it later," and that nothing that could befall the country could possibly be worse than having Republicans in power.
LOL. Damn good idea. But let's keep the world-of-mouth going. At every public opportunity, express your "heartfelt" wish that Billy campaign for Dims. LOL.
"Tee hee. I don't kiss and tell."
With drastic increases in spending which in the long run make it easier for the democrats to argue for higher taxes. Bush's supporters just don't seem to get it. Without a balanced budget, the cause of making a simple and small tax system is going to fail. If Bush really wanted to help the economy he would have vetoed nearly every non-defense spending bill coming his way, pushed to get those 800,000 non-essential jobs privatized and would have taken the money left over and in front of the nation demanded it be used to pay down the national debt. Lower debt, lower interest to pay on the debt which in turn means a permanently lower federal budget. If Bush had put himself in a position to cut the debt from what it is it now? $6.8T? Down to <$2T if he could get a 2nd term with that kind of success he could have made a case for no income tax altogether.
repealed the federal restrictions on arming pilots with handguns
A good small step. Where's the average civilian's right to bring a loaded firearm on board barring an airline-instituted ban?
and we're putting in our first federal pilot program for private school vouchers in Washington, D.C.
The federal government should only be involved in federal education programs like (J)ROTC and the various federal academies. Until the states start adopting vouchers, it won't mean much. The federal voucher program won't buy much at all in the way of education.
Or, better, send him to the knacker's yard.
