My prayers go out to Rush. Drug addiction is a terrible thing.

I say let the liberal trash come out of their collective closets and disparage Rush in their mean-spirited fashion with all the ugliness they can muster.

Their venom will be on display once again for all of America to see.

You see, America (it's people) has a very forgiving and warm heart to individuals who admit a problem like addiction and then seek remedy through self-admission and prayer.

To attack RUSH and his problem is also to attack his "sobering" solution. That type of behaviour is just not going to fly in the heartland! Let those liberals fire away, it will do the conservative cause a great justice in the end.

CNN is making a BIG DEAL about Rush and his addiction. But they are gloating and not showing any compassion.
CNN is a bunch of jeaks. I'm sure Judy Woodruff will be absolutely gleeful.

I suspect however, Rush's motivation was to posture for a courtroom down the line, though I am sure he really wants to quit 'this time.'

there could be some truth to this, and it did occur to me that because of the investigation and obviously he's got a problem - he needs to appear to be fixing things....

I'm unsure if the only way to recover in a rehab situation is when you've hit rock bottom, which isn't the case with Rush, let's hope it's not.

Upon hearing this news about Rush, I would imagine that Todd has been placed on suicide watch

I've had MSNBC on for twenty minutes and they haven't covered one other story besides this one.

Did you expect anything different from the "mainstream" media? Mind you, there's plenty of time before the national newscasts this evening for PJ, Tom Brokejaw & Dan Blather to revamp their leads.

Ooops, sorry, I didn't catch Alanon. The hardest thing I've ever had to do in my adult life was to walk through the door into my first Alanon meeting.

I have a great deal of respect for those that can live a life with someone who has addictive behavior.

Some on FR don't see a difference between medicating for pain or illness and recreational drug use.

Rush made no excuses. He blamed no one. He took responsibility for what has occured and that means he's half way back already

Excactly. But the pro-drug Libertarians(Wolfie for one) on this thread don't wish to hear or see that, like the slobbering mind numb robots over at DU.

They wish and only see his supposed "hypocrisy".

The hypocrisy is on the Libertarian side, though, for Rush admitted today he is human, with human frailties, and that we try everyday of our lives to work our best to overcome those frailites.

The phrase "human" is a four letter word to the Libertarians.

JMO, they think they are Gods, just like Clinton thought he was a "God" by lying to the American populace, when he uttered, "I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky".

Hey look, he's like every other contrite asshat. I would have been a lot more impressed had he admitted his problem so bravely before they got the goods on him. It's not like he had a lot of choice in the matter. Stop the stupid hero worship.

Well Monty22, I hope you never have to face this. I really do.

You do know that the brain chemistry fo the addict is altered? You understand about receptor cells and neurotransmitters and all that jazz, right?

So the addict IS ill, does not have normally functioning brain chemistry. ANd you can't just WILL yourself out of it.

There is a question, though. Why do people RISK addiction. That's a different story.

Unless you know Rush personally, then you're really just blowing smoke out of your ass, now aren't you? Rush has been functioning just fine for the past 5-6 years, and has shown no signs of being in a downward spiral.

Rush has performed so well that for a while I forgot that he technically is deaf. In fact I wouldn't know he had any medical problems if he hadn't said something.

This definitly clips the prosecution of rush for "effect". Remember drug court only yields a dismissal. The premise of the drug court is to force a defendant to treatment. Here the prosecutor has no cause to force him to drug court.

HOWEVER, the NE is NOT off the hook. Should he be able to correct and show the malicious misrepresentation of the story by the NE, they are toast.

If he can show extortion, that would be outside the immunity deal.

Last these are prescription drugs. I know of one woman who must take oxycotin every day in order to function. If the pain can not be addressed, it literally may be impossible to stop taking the pills.

Or like making a joke about prison rape of non-violent drug offenders. Sadly, in this case the joke is the law.

What seems to be often missed is that the law is indifferent to whether the user wants to relieve physical pain, or spiritual pain.

Rush was right to support the WOD and what is he is going through right now is evidence of just how destructive the abuse of even prescription painkillers can be.

His situation in know way makes your stance on drug legalization any less ridiculous and dangerous.
