Man, there are about 10 people on this forum that should be apologizing to me regarding their nasty comments that I didn't know WTF I was talking about. LOL! But that aint going to happen! Hehehe. They aint man enough!

Ray Charles could see by Rush's own words in the very beginning, that something was very wrong.

When I stated, *if* he was completely innocent of the public allegations, all he would have to do was make a brief statement stating, "I don't use drugs obtained illegally or use drugs illegally", and every FR shiit house lawyer came out of the wood work saying, "he can't say anything , not a word, until charges are filed, his lawyer, bla bla bla.....

LOL! Anyone that wasn't in a coma could figure out something wasn't right here.....

There, I feel much better.......

Those that are too embarrassed to apologize in the open, feel free to freepmail me......

:o

The operative words are perceived to be.

Yes, that's why I included them.

My buddies in their mid 50's are starting to whine about feeling their age, but I'm not gonna listen to them.

You should....
that is if you want them to listen to you whine when you hit your mid-fifties....

and you will :-)

I didn't say that he got his money through luck.

But his wealth, however gained, makes it possible for him to buy tons of his magic elixer and ingest them day after day, without having to rob or mug.

However it starts. Take away the money, though, and you've got what you often have with addiction. A person not entirely in control of their life. A person whose number one drive is to get more of the magic stuff into his/her system, a person who would do almost anything to get more.

If you think Rush continued taking the drug, once addicted, because of recurring pain, then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

I wonder, are you afraid to see any "moral equivalence" between Rush and those who are addicted to "recreational" drugs because you fear altering your views of Rush or because you fear altering your views of all those inner city addicts who are rotting in our jails.

Believe me, I know some people survive addiction. I've seen that too. My brother's death actually help some people in his circle see how far they could fall.

"Bennett never condemned gambling because it was his preferred vice. This sophistry in the service of hero worship is really tiresome."

You missed my entire point. You are calling it a vice. I don't think it's a vice in the first place. Right now, at this moment, I have absolutely no problem with anyone who wants to go to A.C. and gamble every last penny they have as long as it's money above what they need to care for their own in the lifestyle they're accustomed to. Bennett never gambled so much that he couldn't take care of his family. It's only a vice when it gets to that level. This is right out of the Catholic Catechism buddy.

Again, you're applying Protestant standards to a Catholic... which is fine if you're actually condemning him for gambling... but you're not. You're condemning him for being a hypocrite when he never did anything that contradicts his own Church's beliefs.

As for hero worship? I never even HEARD of Bennett until the gambling charges came up, and haven't heard him since, but nice try.

Michael Medved has a show and used to sub but I don't know if he is syndicated.

Salem syndicates Medved so I doubt he'll be one of the hosts.

More than likely he had several doctors unaware of cross prescribing of each doctor.

Perhaps---in which case he wasn't breaking the letter of the law but was slyly working the system.

This not exactly recreational use.

Where did I say it was?

Funny how so many junkies suddenly find courage when caught.

Actually, what's funny is the idea that so many think physical pain is irrelvant to one's quality of life.

It does not matter how he became addicted...he is addicted. Making a distinction between a "good junkie" and a "bad junkie" is a cop out and for Rush's sake I hope is not listening to that excuse anymore. That attitude of not being a "real" junkie probably contributed to his problem. Hopefully Rush will be able to overcome his problem and his followers will understand that drug addiction is not just for inner-city crackheads or trailer-park speed freaks.

We should also pray for Marta, who has likely suffered with her husband's addiction in ways that no one knows.

Like you I felt that his not just outright denying the claim that there must be something to the story.

I am praying for Rush and will continue to be a fan of his. His message has not changed, Rush will be back.

There are other female conservatives who could be put in there...

Yes, but will it ever happen and if not, why not?

I have NEVER seen anyone charged for possession of LEGAL drugs (unless they had massive quantities for sale).

Noelle Bush comes to mind.

He wasn't working the system for fun or profit, it was for relief of pain.

He's very lucky to not be dead.

Keep in mind that the DU-folks will probably begin to contact Clear Channel and sponsors (both locally and nationally) to insinuate that they have been sponsoring a "junkie" on the air.

Letters/calls of support to your local station/sponsors might be helpful at this point.

But I do wonder why all this sympathy for rich, white, Republican junkie, and utter indifference to the plight of all those others caught up in our insane and inane drug laws?

What is untrue about the statement.
