Catholic Family News has obtained a video copy of the SIC television broadcast of the Hindu ritual performed at Fatima. As reported last month, the sacrilege took place on May 5 with the blessing of Fatima Shrine Rector Guerra, and the Bishop of Leiria-Fatima, D. Sarafim de Sousa Ferreira e Silva.

SIC, a national television station in Portugal, reported on the Hindu ritual at Fatima the same day it took place. The announcer called it an “ncommon ecumenical experience.”

The broadcast shows morning prayer at the Radha Krishna temple in Lisbon. “Light and water, energy and nature, mark the rhythm of the Arati, the morning prayer,” the announcer says. “Hinduism is the oldest of the great religions. It is characterized by multiple deities, worshiped through a triple dimension of life and sacredness: the creator god, the preserver god, and the god who has the power to destroy.”

Thus the Hindus spent the morning worshiping their false gods, which are nothing more than demons. Saint Francis Xavier, the apostle to India, said of Hinduism: “All the invocations of the pagans are hateful to God because all their gods are devils.”[1]

A young Hindu woman appears on screen with statues of gods in the background. She explains, “This is god Shiva and his wife Parvati. In the center we can see god Rama, to our right his wife Sita and to our left, his brother and companion Lakshmama. Now we can see Krishna Bhagwan and his consort Radha. The deities are always accompanied by their respective consorts or wives. As a rule, when we address the deities or want to ask for their graces, we address the feminine deity, who is very important to us.”

About 60 Hindus, said the broadcast, “leave Lisbon with the chandam, the sign on their foreheads which shows the wish for good fortune in a noble task. And this is the day dedicated to the greatest of all female deities. She is called the Most Holy Mother, the goddess Devi, the deity of Nature who many Portuguese Hindus also find in Fatima.”

Another young Hindu lady explains, “As a Hindu, who believes the whole world, or rather all human beings, are members of a global family, it would be natural for me to see any manifestation of God, including Our Lady of Fatima, as a manifestation of the same God.”

Here, this young lady speaks as a true Hindu, since Hinduism regards the various false gods they worship as manifestations of “God”. Thus, they are not honoring Our Lady as the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ, but worshiping Her as a manifestation of their pagan god.

The newscast then shows the Hindus bringing flowers to the statue of Our Lady inside the Capelinha, the little chapel built over the spot where Our Lady of Fatima appeared. The Hindu priest stands at the Catholic altar and recites a Hindu prayer. Meanwhile, the SIC announcer says, “This is a unique moment in the history of the Sanctuary and of devotion itself. The Hindu priest, the Shastri, recites at the altar the Shanti Pa, the prayer for peace.”

Pope Pius XI, in a liturgical prayer consecrating the human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, prayed for the conversion of all who are not members of the Mystical Body. He invoked Our Lord, “be Thou King of all those who are involved with the darkness of idolatry”. [2] This idolatry is now practiced at the Fatima Shrine, desecrating the sacred site, making it necessary for the chapel to be re-consecrated.

In another clip, the Hindu priest explains that he finds a “divine energy” at Fatima. “It is an energy that permeates the whole place,” he says. “ It has the power to be present here, around us. Whenever I come here, I feel this vibration ...”

SIC then explains that the display of this group of Hindus at Fatima “is not well-accepted by all Catholics”. The camera then shifts to Fatima Shrine Rector Guerra who defends Hindu worship at the Catholic Shrine.

“It is obvious” says Rector Guerra, “that these civilizations and religions are quite different. But I think that there is a common background to all religions. There is a common background that, how can I put it, is born from the common humanity we all possess. And it is very important that we recognize this common background, because, due to the clashes of the differences, we sometimes forget our equality. These meetings give us that occasion.”

The Hindus are then welcomed by the Bishop of Leiria-Fatima in a room containing a large model of the modernistic Fatima Shrine now under construction. “This time,” says the broadcast, “the Hindu pilgrims are received as if they were an embassy; an unheard of gesture which can be understood as an invitation for other visits.” This means that the pagan desecration of the Fatima Shrine is likely to happen again and again.

The Bishop of Leiria- Fatima then says, “We don’t want to be fundamentalist, we don’t want that, but we want to be honest, sincere and want to communicate by osmosis the fruitfulness of our rituals, so that we may produce fruits. I am pleased to meet them.”

At this point, the Hindu priest places on the shoulders of the Bishop of Leiria- Fatima and Shrine Rector Guerra a shawl covered with verse of the Bhagwad Gita, one of Hinduism’s sacred books.

The report ends with a close-up of a guest book that includes the signatures of Pope John Paul II, Mother Teresa, and a Hindu high priest. It goes on to say that Hindus intend to keep Fatima “on the road map of places where they claim they can find vibrations of holiness...”

Catholic Family News has reported on the interfaith orientation at Fatima since it was launched at the interreligious Congress held at Fatima in October 2003.[4] We warned repeatedly that this type of desecration was inevitable if Catholics did not resist the new ecumenical program.

Predictably, the enablers of the “New Fatima” such as Father Robert J. Fox ridiculed our efforts and tried to dissuade Catholics from taking us seriously. Father Fox, on an April 25 EWTN broadcast, claimed that the reports about the interfaith activity at Fatima were nothing but "fabrications,” that he knows Shrine Rector Guerra personally, and that Rector Guerra would never allow such interfaith activities to take place. Less than two weeks after this EWTN broadcast, the Fatima Shrine was desecrated by pagan worship, with the blessing of Rector Guerra and the Bishop of Leiria- Fatima.

Pope Leo XIII, along with his predecessors taught “we are bound absolutely to worship God in the way which He has shown to be His will".[3] Hinduism worships false gods who are demons. It is sacrilegious for Rector Guerra and the Bishop of Fatima to permit these rituals in a Catholic sanctuary.

Pope Pius XI called it “ignominious” to place the true religion of Jesus Christ “on the same level with false religions”.[5] Pope Leo XIII likewise taught “it is contrary to reason that error and truth should have equal rights.”[6]  Thus the “equality” that Msgr. Guerra speaks of, and his notion of various religions coming from a “com mon background,” defies Catholic truth.

Rector Guerra and the Bishop of Leiria-Fatima are also guilty of grave scandal. Their actions tell these poor Hindus, who are in bondage to a heathen religion, that they are pleasing to God as they are. This is contrary to the manifest will of Christ, Who said, “No one comes to the Father but through Me.” “He who believes and is baptized will be saved, He who does not believe will be condemned.” Hindus reject Jesus Christ. They have no interest in baptism or in the truths revealed by God. Rector Guerra and the Bishop of Lierra of Fatima counsel and encourage this apostasy. By their bad example, they scandalize not only the Hindus, but others who observe their actions.

“Scandal” says Saint Thomas Aquinas, “is a word or act which gives occasion to the spiritual ruin of one’s neighbor.” Saint Leo calls the authors of scandal murderers who kill not the body but the soul. Saint Bernard says that, in speaking of sinners in general, the Scriptures hold out hope of amendment and pardon, but the Scriptures speak of those who give scandal, as persons separated from God, of whose salvation there is very little hope.[7]

Perhaps this is why we see a spiritual blindness in these men. They persist in their apostasy despite the outrage from concerned Catholics. Nonetheless, we must pray for them.

And what of the Hindus themselves? The Shastri comes to Fatima because he feels there a “divine energy,” “vibrations of holiness”. Members of all religions worship the same god and are part of the “global family”.

This is the language of paganism, not of our received Catholic tradition. "Holy vibrations” is what Hindus call Shakti, and they go to various places to seek it. They will rush to be in the presence of the Dalai Lama or Pope John Paul II or Ghandi because this gives them Darshan, the good fortune that comes from being in the sight of a holy man. Each and every one of their terms is rooted in heathen superstition, not in the truths revealed by Christ.

In short, the Hindus did not go to the Fatima Shrine to be Catholicized. Rather, they Hinduized the Fatima Shrine, folding their pagan myths and superstitions into one of Catholicism’s most sacred sites.

This is not honoring the Mother of God, but a blasphemy against Her, since there is nothing honorable in placing Our Lady on the same level as one more goddess in their pantheon of demonic deities. “What concord hath Christ with Belial?”, says Saint Paul, “or what part hath the faithful with the unbeliever?” (2 Cor. 6:15)

At the end of the visit, the Hindus presented Msgr. Guerra and the Bishop of Fatima with a shawl covered with verse of the Bhagwad Gita. This book contains a story which illustrates a central tenet of Hinduism.

Arjuna, a warrior, is on the eve of a great battle. He dreads the next day, because he knows he will have to kill his friends, relatives, teachers. Arjuna's charioteer, who turns out to be the god Krishna in disguise, tells Arjuna not to fear the coming battle because none of it is real. No one is going to die. All of it, and all of life, is illusion.

Arjuna then thrusts himself into the bloody conflict believing it to be his Dharma, his given path, to hack his friends and relatives to pieces. It is all illusion anyway. No one really dies. This is Hinduism in a nutshell. You are god, everything else is illusion.[8]

Catholics who behold the Fatima Shrine Rector and the Bishop of Fatima draped in shawls laden with verses from a pagan mythology, certainly would wish that the Hindu desecration of Fatima was an illusion, that none of it was real.

But no, it really happened. And Catholics must register their outrage to Rome and to Fatima, as they offer prayers of reparation for Catholic leaders who hand over the chapel of Our Lady of Fatima to a religion whose god is the devil.

Yikes. Nothing like photographic evidence to quash doubters. I have a feeling though that those who deny anything strange is going on at Fatima, will continue in their views. Just as they criticized Portugal news outlets of making up facts, they will probably spin these pictures into representing something else. Basically moving from a "it was all made up" defense to the "what's the big deal?" defense.

Fr. Guerra doesn't come out looking too good here, given his previous statements on similar matters:

http://www.fatimafamily.org/news/fatimashrine.html

Fatima, Shrine of All Religions?

The Rector of Portugal's Fatima Shrine, Fr. Luciano Guerra, has replied to the false and extreme reports that traveled around the world about Fatima becoming a Shrine of all religions. It is not the first false reports circulated about Fatima. We offer some quotes below from his Communique to the Fatima Family Apostolate.

1. "The news, which provoked strong reactions from the users of the internet claim that, at the inspiration of delegates from the U.N. and from the Vatican and also according to statements from the Rector of the Shrine, Fatima "is to be developed into a center where all the religions of the world will gather to pay homage to their gods." Furthermore: "The future of Fatima, or the adoration of God and His Mother at this holy Shrine, must pass through the creation of a shrine where different religions can mingle." And that's not all, listen: "The Shrine of Fatima is about to undergo a complete reconstruction with a new stadium-like basilica being erected close by the existing one built in 1921."

2. It is our firm conviction that the great majority, perhaps the totality, of the reactions received is the result of a long orchestration, centered in the United States, by people bitterly opposed to Vatican Council II, specifically to what pertains to a wider opening of the Church, with emphasis on the ecumenical and inter-faith dialogue. During the days of the Congress, there were held in Fatima demonstrations by two more protest organizations, headquartered one in Canada, the other in France. The masterminds of these groups barricaded themselves, many years now, behind a thick argumentation, from where they throw accusations to the authorities of the Church, including the Pope himself, as being heretics, apostates and unfaithful to the responsibilities thrust upon them.

3. So that the readers may compare the content of the news published by Portugal News with the oral presentation of the Rector in the final session of the Congress - only time he spoke - whose entire text we are publishing in "Voz da Fatima" (Voice of Fatima), here are verbatim the pertaining references, taken from the recording of that speech: "It is true that (...) we are all very far from journeying towards the only, or through the only, bridge. We cold therefore relax, since, if one's bridge is collapsing, it could happen that the neighbor's bridge is not. But it is also true that a disease of epidemic proportions seems to have threatened the faith of all religions, of all confessions, of all traditions, during the last decades. That's why we rejoice in the brotherly presence of the representatives of the various spiritual schools and we are sure that their presence here opened the way for a greater future openness of this Shrine; Shrine that seems already vacationed, thanks to divine providence, for contacts and for dialogue (...). This calling is almost explicit, in regard to the oriental, Orthodox and Catholic churches, in the message of the Angel of Peace, and, in regard to the Islamic religion, in the name itself that God chose for the town where Mary would one day appear: Fatima."

4. From these words one can conclude that we are truly opened to ideas and values that are universal, therefore open to dialogue with other faiths, following an already ancient practice of the Church. But it is evident that we are not open to share the way we worship, the least in what pertains to the sacraments, specifically the Eucharist, which is the ultimate and most perfect expression of Christian unity and that we can't unfortunately celebrate, not even with our closest brothers of the protestant denominations. Therefore the worship space which, God willing, will soon start to be built - and which the journalist claims that it will be similar to a stadium - in fact will be a church with capacity to seat nine thousand people and will be marked exclusively for Catholic worship. It will be located not next to the present basilica, but between the "Cruz Alta" (High Cross) and the public road. And, when it seems to us to be opportune, after what already is happening in Fatima and in many other sacred places, this new basilica would be able to receive brothers from other faiths who may want, in a brotherly manner, know how we pray.

The claim of Portugal News that the October Congress was held at the inspiration of the UN and the Vatican and that it was sponsored by the World Conference for Religion and Peace and that it would have been its annual meeting is deprived of any basis in reality. The idea of the Congress was born entirely in the Rectory of the Shrine, having its inspiration in the reading of the message of Fatima, as referred to in the last number of this communique, within the spirit of Vatican II. .....

7. Today another extremism - we would say from the opposite side - forces us to come public to denounce categorical statements that also distort the true facts and are very offensive to the dignity of the people working in this Shrine. ...

9. Behold the extremes and the extremisms! Which, in more crucial causes and circumstances, can lead to fundamentalism, fanaticism and terrorism. The ultimate evil doesn't reside in the faith, not even in the ideas alone, but in the factors that mould our psyche, and here we mention four of the most important ones: temperament, character, culture and education. ...."

- The Rector, Fr. Luciano Guerra

Those who permit these desecrations do not have the Catholic faith--and that includes many in the Holy See itself--and perhaps even the Pope.

Less we forget it was Karol Wojtyla who sent a marble fragment from the tomb of St. Peter to be placed in this pagan house of worship to be present while heretics and heathens adore false gods. POPE’S APPROVAL FOR THE FATIMA INTERFAITH SHRINE

"John Paul II recently gave the religious authorities of Fatima a marble fragment of the tomb of St. Peter in Rome to be used in the new Holy Trinity Basilica that has been under construction since February 1994. The rector of the sanctuary is Msgr. Luciano Guerra. The new basilica will seat 9,000 people, making it the largest covered building in Portugal and one of the biggest Catholic churches in the world. It is scheduled to open in 2007, and is projected to cost close to $50 million, to be paid for by the offerings of pilgrims (The Tablet, March 27, 2004, p. 29)."

The Church, founded by The Blessed Trinity, will overcome the conspiracies conjured up by those within the Vatican apartments, and carried out by the unholy of unholies.

I pray God will destroy this false god temple - with all of the unholies present;
I pray this destruction and death will rid His Church of the evil within;
I pray this cleansing will bring forth a renewed respect for and obedience to His Sacred Dogma.

I haven't forgotten. He is a disgrace to the papacy. But he is still the pope. A formal heresy must be publicly acknowledged by the bishops for him to lose his office. Fat chance that'll ever happen.

Excuse me; I think it's you. If you knew me at all you'd know that like you I have no taste at all for casual indifferentism of the sort reported here. Unlike you, I don't project my views on every event that enters my consciousness. People might suspect I was an obsessed crank.

There's nothing "casual" about this indifferentism. It's planned. It's part of the Pope's agenda. As for being an obsessed crank--not at all. Just a pissed-off Catholic.

These days there are so few lay or ordained defenders of The One True Faith that might appear that some who are devoted to The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus are compelled to defeat the mocking and blasphemy posted by Roman Catholic pretenders.

I, for one, am grateful to ultima ratio for the insightful and concise wisdom he/she brings to FR.

I'm trying to find the applicable rules about ceremonies of other religions in Catholic sacred spaces. It seems to me personally that the shrine authorities went too far in this case. Canon law has the following provisions, although they are somewhat vague:

Can. 1210 In a sacred place only those things are to be permitted which serve to exercise or promote worship, piety and religion. Anything out of harmony with the holiness of the place is forbidden. The Ordinary may however, for individual cases, permit other uses, provided they are not contrary to the sacred character of the place.

Can. 1211 Sacred places are desecrated by acts done in them which are gravely injurious and give scandal to the faithful when, in the judgement of the local Ordinary, these acts are so serious and so contrary to the sacred character of the place that worship may not be held there until the harm is repaired by means of the penitential rite which is prescribed in the liturgical books.

This latest ecumeniac fiasco is only adding fuel to the runaway fires which are burning throughout the Church today.
Unfortunately, wishy-washy statements from the hierarchy that promote "ecumenism" rather than conversion to the one, true Faith only embolden those involved in this charade.
Apparently, despite recent gentle proddings from the SSPX, the holy father still hasn't realized the major problems with his rampant ecumaniac agenda...
http://www.cwnews.com/news/viewstory.cfm?recnum=30512
Pope John Paul then delivered his own homily to the congregation of 15,000 people in St. Peter's Square. He said that "the commitment made by the Catholic Church since the Second Vatican Council" to the cause of ecumenical unity is "irrevocable." No Catholic can renounce that effort, he insisted. Rather, he urged that all Catholics, and all Christians, pray earnestly "that the day when we fully realize Christ's desire, that all may be one, may come more quickly."

"I'm trying to find the applicable rules about ceremonies of other religions in Catholic sacred spaces."

Forget Canon Law - read your Bible!!!

Read what God thinks of golden calves, high places and baal worship - try Exodus, 1&2 Kings and all the Prophets.

Read what God thinks of His people consorting with baal worshippers, and how He raised up Phineas, grandson of Aaron to run the idolaters through their genitals with his spear

Read what God thinks when His temple is desecrated and how He can raise up a man according to His own heart like Judas Maccabeus to hammer the defilers and re-consecrate the temple.

Read the first of the 10 commandments and ask yourself how many prelates even take this one seriously any more.

This is just so obviously evil and contrary to every Catholic sensibility that no-one should need to look this up in the Codex Iuris Canonicus.

If you came home one night and found your wife and daughter being gang-raped by a crazed gang of hells angels, would you really need to look it up in the Code to see if this was permitted somewhere???

"The truth is that those who permitted this abomination are no more Catholic than the Hindus they have accommodated."

Unfortunately this sort of desecration is not an isolated event but part of a global pattern. Apart from the growing indifferentism, we have also seen widespread destruction of Catholic sanctuaries, and even perversions of the very tabernacle. This picture provides just another example of the last point... http://www.catholicnewworld.com/archive/cnw2001/032501/interview.html

Please don't spare us the lecture. I would like to understand the Hindu faith.

Then go "understand" it on a different thread. Don't encourage him to disrupt this one. The tenets of the Hindu religion are not what this thread is about.

Just incredible. It's one thing to welcome and allow the Hindu delegation to honor Mary, it's another to allow them to perform a Christ-less ritual on miraculous ground.

Still, "the gates of hell shall not prevail."

Thanks Doc, we can now move past the DENIALS issued by a variety of hierarchs and defenders of the Modernist infection and on to reality.

Reality One - One of the most venerated shrines in the Universal Church was desecrated.

Reality Two - The desecration was done with the permission and active cooperation of both the priest and the bishop in charge of the shrine.

Reality Three - The desecration mirrors many similar desecrations of Holy Altars throughout the world.

Reality Four - So far, other than denials, Rome has been silent.

The "hell might be empty" crowd of Modernist polyannas will ignore this thread. Their world cannot accept this.

Is there an address in Rome where we can register our protests? In Fatima?

" It seems to me personally that the shrine authorities went too far in this case."

Really? Wow. How about when Jesse Jackson preaches from the pulpit? Or when Lutheran and Catholic services are both celebrated at the same Catholic Altar (an act of desecration I've seen)? Perhaps, just perhaps you might be right. If you are, what do you think ought to happen? What do you think will happen?

Hey guys, back up off O&T a bit. I've found him to be a big ally of traditionalists here. IOW he's on our side.

I'm not trying to referee Butinski, but what he said isn't that big a deal.
