Prayer request for my Mom
Self
Posted on 05/05/2005 7:59:37 PM PDT by Rainbow Rising
My mother was rushed to the hospital yesterday afternoon. She was suffering from a high fever. I saw her today, and she was doing much better. Right now she is resting comfortably while her doctors do a variety of tests.
They believe that she is suffering from some type of infection, but as of now they don't know where it is. I've known her doctor for several years, and I trust him (more importantly, so does my mom). He tells me that he's optimistic about her chances, because she's strong and she wants to live. I know she is a strong woman, but I've never seen her like this before, and I'm scared.

Thank you all so much for your prayers and kind words. I do believe that they have made a difference. Thanks to God also. I told her that I had posted a prayer request here, and she is very thankful for all your prayers. She's a big fan of FR, even though she doesn't go online (I share the big news stories and the funny stuff with her).
I went to see my mother today, and I noticed the improvement right away. The fever has gone down, and she was lucid and responsive to me. Her doctor thinks that it is a streptococcus infection located somewhere in the abdominal area. He's got her on antibiotics. Tomorrow they will do a CT scan of the area to see what's going on.
There was a bit of a setback, in that her heartbeat has gone a little irregular. Now she's on a heart monitor. I'm a little worried about that, but the cardio doctor seeing her is supposed to be very good. I'm going back tomorrow afternoon, and I should know more then. What really stinks is that it is practically guaranteed that she will spend Mother's Day in the hospital. I'm going to do whatever I can to help keep her spirits up.
Once again, thank you for your prayers.

May God hold you and your family close to Him now and give you peace and strength. May He use His awesome healing power to restore your mother to health, in Jesus' name.
