Yeesh...Here is the translation of Psalm 23 with the article
Psalm 23
The Lord is all that, I need for nothing.
He allows me to chill.
He keeps me from being heated
and allows me to breathe easy.
He guides my life so that
I can represent and give
shouts out in his Name.
And even though I walk through
the Hood of death,
I don't back down
for you have my back.
The fact that you have me covered
allows me to chill.
He provides me with back-up
in front of my player-haters
and I know that I am a baller
and life will be phat.
I fall back in the Lord's crib
for the rest of my life.

Next thing, I suppose they'll hand out condoms with handy Bible verses printed on them too.

Unless you're reading your Bible in its original Greek, with the quotes from Christ in their original Aramaic, nobody really has any room to complain about this. Throughout the history of Christianity the Bible has been translated into countless languages so that all might read His Word and be saved. The reality here is that the language spoken by these kids is substantially different from that spoken by you and I. If a cultural translation is required for these kids to "get" the Word of God, I'm sure that Jesus would approve.
What's important is that they are hearing the Word of God. The language and syntax of the Bible they are reading is irrelevant.

My daughter was invited by a friend to go to one of these earlier this month and we were conveniently busy.
