Ummm...no. You're not. You're a rebellious heretic.
From Catholic Culture:
"Ordinatio Sacerdotalis. In that document, John Paul II reaffirmed the 1977 teaching of Inter Insigniores and proclaims that the Church lacks the authority to ordain women, since Christ did not appoint women as apostles and since the historical tradition has restricted priestly ordination to men."
This has always been the teacing of the Church and this woman knows this. She's acting like a defiant child.
and sayin' don't make it so...
to quote my 4 year old nephew addressing his sister "stoopid cooter"!!
a coworkers son was molested 8 years ago in a Florida church choir group by the priest. Who "transferred" up to a church in a larger and "more progressive" diocese.
The boy didn't tell his mother till he had moved on to college and had significant suicidal and depression as results that he is still dealing with.
The mother filed a complaint with the police (no evidence other than hearsay), the arch diocese (no problem that they were aware of) and when all else failed a civil suit...at which time during discovery 5 other boys in the county, 3 other in this priests previous assignment and one in his new digs filed complaints. No publicity, no arrests, no news, just swept away to New Mexico where he can receive more treatment, I suppose.
could they all be lying, sure could. I knew the boy before and after he was raped/molested/abused and his behavior changed dramatically.
The mother felt like a fool because she had encouraged his participation in the choir.
I guess he was just the end portion of the return to early 1960's level. If you're wondering where, on the off chance that you think I'm making it up.. poke around the west coast of Florida, south of Tampa and north of the Naples area.
I'm glad the church has taken care of this problem now. I thought some of the seminaries had become "pink palaces" and that the problem persisted to this day. I'm sorry for not realizing that this was much less prevalent than in the past.
"And I am a Roman Catholic woman priest.''"
Silly girl. Somehow I don't think God is laughing.
You are, of course, absolutely right. However, these women, like others before them, feel enobled to interpret history to suit their personal agendas. They feel slighted and seek to draw sympathy from others who agree with their position. The most damning aspect of their cause is that they refuse to go to other christian denominations which would welcome them as priest(esses). As a result, they use the media to draw attention to their message and mislead those catholics who were poorly catechized.
.....Uh - - no, you're not......
Please be a little more specific .....
Is she not a Roman Catholic?
Is she not a woman?
Is she not a priest?
Or all of the above?
Jews sue, Catholics excommunicate

Dear Dick Vomer,
I don't doubt the veracity of the circumstances that you relate.
I suspect that folks will make mistakes, including regarding how to handle child-abusing priests, until the end of time. Unfortunately, institutions that have contact with children seem to have a tendency to cover up this type of crime.
Recently, I was absolutely flabbergasted to learn that approximately 100,000 children PER YEAR are molested in US public schools. I can tell you, there aren't 100,000 prosecutions of this crime per year.
"I'm glad the church has taken care of this problem now."
I'm not sure I'd put it in the past tense. Even the return to previous levels of abuse still represents scores of tragedies per year nationwide. And I doubt that every bishop acts appropriately in every case.
I commented on your post in part because you said,
"The 'problem' is with the acceptance of predatory homosexuals allowed to roam freely among young boys."
Forgive me if I inferred incorrectly, but this seemed to suggest that you believe that few, if any bishops are seriously trying to address the problem. The fact is, they have been working on this problem, some better than others, for more than 20 years, with significant results.
"I thought some of the seminaries had become 'pink palaces' and that the problem persisted to this day."
As you know, plenty of seminaries had become "pink palaces." But in recent years, two things have happened: the first is that some seminaries are recovering, and many of the good seminaries have gotten stronger; the second is that many of the "pinker" destinations are hurting for new entrants, while the better seminaries are full. Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg has quite a good reputation in this regard, and with regard to its general orthodoxy. They're bursting at the seams, and have had to add room to accommodate all the seminarians who want to enter there.
Conversely, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles seemingly can't buy a vocation.

It's mind-blowing what lay ministers have accomplished. It's sad that pride pushes them to the front of the line. Of course, the line is to an empty room, but the analogy stands.

Ahem, NYer, the Mercury News actually got it right. Drop out the word Catholic!
Definat female (apostate) priest says "mass."
God hath spoken unto me, also. He sayeth, "Aaaahhh, a hot, summer night... perfect weather for a bonfire. Go round up some kindling."
Why the tongue in cheek? I think bringing back the Inquisition would correct the gross misunderstandings about what the Inquisition was all about. If every diocese can have an annulment court, surely Rome can spare on court of Inquisition.
>> Mother Theresa was not a priest. Being a priest in and of itself is not an accomplishment. What one makes of one's life is what is important. <<
Much, much, much less. According to the excellent book, "The Soul of the Apostolate," a tiny, almost miniscule, portion of saints were pastors.
No, that's a rhetorical question. Please, do NOT answer that question.
And I'm the Empress Josephine.
I think the Bishops involved are not Bishops of the Catholic Church but Bishops of renegade, self established churches that call themselves " catholic " churches. But the Bishops have no standing with Rome.
Sorry to break it to you, but your discernment was right on: Victoria Rue, a lecturer in the Social Science department, teaches Religious Studies and Women's Studies at San Jose State University. Rue is one of a handfull of ordained female Roman Catholic priests living in US. Rue is standing in front of the rainbow flag hanging in her office embroidered with the Latin word "peace". Rue lives with her Kathryn, her partner of sixteen years, in Watsonville.
