NEWS FLASH!! Another Tiber Jumper!
Renowned Christian entertainer and recording artist, Rob Evans AKA "The Donut Man" has come home! Just this past Easter he was received into the Catholic Church! I remember how my kids grew up listening to the Donut Man and when I close my eyes I can still hear "I like the Bible, I like the Bible, cuz I read it and I do it......."
Congrats Mr. Donut Man! We will pray for you and look forward to even greater opportunities for your ministry.

That is an excellent commentary and right to the point. I'm not surprised or amazed to see Evangelical Protestants moved to Catholicism. (I liked the term "Evanjellycal".) There isn't much difference anymore. Tsk, tsk to us Protestants.
I dunno... Asparagus' blog comments sound sedevacantist to me, making strange references in Latin to "the smoke of Satan"...
Perhaps if the Donut Man had a pastor that could have explained the Biblical faith to him clearly, he would have understood what he was rejecting.
Which Biblical faith?? The Presbyterian one.....the Methodist one.....the Lutheran one........the "Church of What's Happening Now" one.....
He probably had several such pastors. And they all told him different things. That is likely one cause of his conversion.
"Biblical faith" is like beauty. Lots of people talk about it but nobody can agree on what it is.

They [Evangelicals who have converted] quite often speak in terms of the Reformation while denying the Reformation's Biblical foundation....You have to wonder why. Could it be that functionally speaking, most Evanjellycal Protestants are Roman Catholic? Could it be that the man-centered preaching and teaching has been taking its toll? Could it be the denial of sound Biblical theology in favor of Protestant Traditions (Ohhhh do Protestants have their Traditions)?
Maybe it's time to celebrate another ex-priest who is now an evangelical!

Are you missing the irony that the blogger derides one of the converts for accepting the "Roman exegesis" of John 6, while simultaneously setting himself up as the arbiter of what is and isn't "sound Biblical theology"?
IMO the biggest irony here is that Catholics actually think Rob Evans is a big catch, and that his conversion is newsworthy.
It seems to me that conversions shouldn't be qualified as to whether they are "big" or "little" or whether they are "newsworthy".
It isn't for any of us to take the measure of a man. That's God's business.
Some Catholics might. I'm happy about anyone who converts (as long as it's for the right reasons) ... but I still have one nagging question ... who is this guy, anyway?
Catholics will always rejoice when another soul for Christ is won.
And while Rob Evans gets a whole article on the subject both here and on the "Crossed The Tiber" website, Mary Schlobotnik's of DuBuque, IA converted eighteen months ago, and hers doesn't even merit a byline.
It would seem some converts are rejoiced over more than others.
Here's your catch of the day. TBN is weeping, I'm sure.
If Mary Schlobotnik was properly catechized, it won't make a particle of difference to her if she goes unrecognized.
This past Easter year over 1000 people were received into the Church in my diocese. Nobody worried about whether they merited a byline.
OTHH, there is no harm in a TV audience hearing of the conversion story of person. In private lives, this happens more than one would think.
