Bob Beckel claims to be a born again Christian...Fox News,Hannity.
Bob Beckel says he is a born again Christian.Speaking as a sinner saved by grace,I challenge! He went on to bear false witness within a minute of his claim.
God bless Bob Beckle, but I dont believe a Christian can continue in the democrat party, arguing for abortion, gay rights and banning the name of Jesus from the public square.
I challenge the term "Christian democrat" all togeather. I don`t buy it for a moment.I don`t believe Jimmy Carter is a Christian either. To continue to support abortion etc, after being supposedly saved, does not wash!
To be fair,"moderate republican Christian" is also a oxymoron.
Now I guess people will want to tear me a new one?
good point about DINOs. We sometimes forget that they are out there, and in large numbers. In addition to union members and blacks, there are a lot of older folks who don't agree with anything the Dems say, other than that the Republicans are going to take away their Social Security.
I hear you,BUT....The argument over abortion brings out peoples true nature. It has nothing to do with how smart one is.I`m not the sharpest knife in the drawer myself!
To argue for the killing of unborn children in todays debate,Is clearly not from God,regardless of ones smarts.
Did he reply?
The way is narrow and most will not find it.Jesus said,I put before you life and death, choose life.
If they put their pocket book above what Jesus says....
He just smiled and backed away. I think he tried to make a case for being a democrat and a Christian but it was as he was leaving. I'm sure I seemed like one of those dangerous radical Christians for actually raising my voice on a religious issue.
I agree with you, and they will dodge it with the "personally opposed" line, then say that neither party is moral because of X, Y or Z. They vote Democrat because they think that means caring for the poor, and Jesus said we should care for the poor. They think the Democrats are "for peace," and Jesus said "blessed are the peace-makers." They think the Democrats are against "the rich," and Jesus said it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. It is one of the more frustrating discussions one can have.
My personal belief is that they may be saved, but are quite suseptible to Satan's games. I also believe that salvation can be lost (not to ignite a Calvinist/Arminian debate), and that they are in danger.
Now, don't anyone go beating me about the head and shoulders, I am just trying to answer thepresidentsbestfriend's question.
The difference between abortion and the death penalty/war is that conservatives will at least give a guy a chance!
Democrat in the US is more like SPD in Germany. They are the party that wants to be the champions of gays, feminists; they embrace secularism and views that as progress, they are pro-abortion....
Of course this is all generalized, but as a party they are very left and not very Christian. As a party, the positions taken by the Democrats in the US is not in line with Christian values. They know that that is the way they are being perceived, so now in the US the Democrats are starting a push to reinvent themselves and sell themselves to the public as a Christian valued based party.
But the positions have not shifted one bit. It's still the party that is for gay rights, for abortion, they still back people that want to remove God from society, but they simply know that American society is not secular, so they are pretending to be a Christian values based party now. Sponsored websites are popping up, their talking heads are talking the talk, but in the end, its actions that matter, and a party that in the grand scheme of things takes the positions they do on issues is NOT Christian values based.
But that's just my opinion.
"Who´d ever thunk it??" ;-) I`m sorry for having caused a misunderstanding, but I´m well aware that the thread refers exclusively to the US Democratic Party.
I was really surprised and taken aback when he said that, but listening to him, in the brief few seconds after he said that, convinced me that he did, indeed, have a conversion experience.
That was a very public pronouncement.
is this something recent for Beckel, or is he just now talking about it?
Catholic Democrat? Catholic ProChoice Democrat?
Bump
Those not watching Christian Tv or attending a so-called "mega"-church sorta fall into those categories.
A broom closet might suffice.
Now don't you be pulling the wool over Old Ray's eyes, now.
I thought your response was great, but since it's morning over here, apparently some people missed your humor (and you even put in a smiley face as a hint!)
Thanks. These misunderstandings: Sometimes I blame it on the "cultural differences", sometimes I say it´s because of language barrier..., well at least this time I can blame the others! :-D
It's new to me.
