Mankind has not changed in nature nor any other significant attribute.
The world has not changed.
Man’s relationship with God has not changed from the New Testament era.
Paul’s instructions to Christians over the whole of the Church Age have not changed.
My interpretation of the hostility is . . .
prayer etc. in tongues is a very powerful—at least a potentially powerful . . . aspect of an authentic Spirit-filled Christian’s life.
Satan doesn’t appreciate it one bit.
So he attacks it every way he can.
I suppose. But there’s actual Biblical precedent behind this. Such fear/hostility against speaking in tongues is even more confusing than the Luddites who think you’re going to hell if you have an electric guitar in a praise and worship service...
