You said it was one line...Is it two?
And I have asked you a few times how we are to practically apply our call to holiness and separation...but you haven't replied. Instead, you turned it into a meaningless discussion about electricity use.
PBY Isle? Hysterical!!!
But if we’re all stuck, we’d better learn to get along. LOL!!!
You have to know the specific name of my church to discuss the practical application of Scripture's call to holy living and separation from the world?
That is strange.
You said that you were at the 25th Anniversary service and that you shook hands with Kagame....Given these and your in spite of Scripture defenses, I thought that your possible employment might help explain your actions.
How about the writers in the New Testament?
IMO Rick was foolish to do so, but he wasn't sinful in doing so - at least no more than he would be singing any other song. The only criticism I would wage would be over the question "why did that song come to his mind at that exact moment, and not a worship song or hymn?"
Had I been in Rick's place, I think I would have belted out Larry Norman's Why Don't You Look Into Jesus - but that's just me :)
Sipping whiskey from a paper cup
You drown your sorrows till you can't stand up
Take a look at what you've done to yourself
Why don't you put the bottle back on the shelf
Yellow fingered from your cigarettes
Your hands are shaking while your body sweats
Why don't you look into Jesus, He's got the answer.Gonorrhea on Valentines Day
And you're still looking for the perfect lay
You think rock and roll will set you free
You'll be deaf before you're thirty three
Shooting junk till you're half insane
Broken needle in your purple vein
Why don't you look into Jesus, He's got the answerWork all night
Sleep all day
Take your money, throw it all away
You say you're gonna be a superstar
But you never hung around enough to find out who you really areThink back when you were a child
Your soul was free and you heart ran wild
Each day was different, and life was a thrill
You knew tomorrow would be better still
But things have changed and you're much older now
If you're unhappy and you don't know how
Why don't you look into Jesus, He's got the answer
Wha... huh... ungh!
Are we THAT difficult to get along with???
I feel like John the Baptist. He didn’t
get along with anyone - had to live alone
in the desert. At least we’re on a tropical
island - it is tropical isn’t it?
Mary (Jo) Anne
The world just doesn't like God pleasing Christ-like acting Christians...put them on an island...they are just so extreme!!
What I meant was IMO his choice of "Purple Haze" was foolish. Another song (something CCM, even [gasp] an Amy Grant or Zoegirl tune) would have been an improvement. On the other hand, while I don't think it was sinful per se of Rick to choose "Purple Haze", I do think Luke 6:45 may have some application here - at least as much as it does re Rick's choosing those unholy Hawaiian shirts to wear :D
Maybe I need to review the thread.
I confused.
Yes. Happy Birthday. 60? I will take
full credit for spreading the rumor that
you were still in college. Perhaps I had
you confused with someone else.
Again... Happy Birthday!!!
