Methinks, Dear ?Bro? ?Sis?

that this topic is rich enough in spiritual wealth . . . it would be good and fitting to begin maybe another thread . . . a

DAILY DEVOTIONAL CHRISTIAN CAUCUS with each of these ONE ANOTHERS having it’s day in display and mutual edification and exhortation.

We could each add our sense of what The Lord had said to us in our lives about that particular ONE ANOTHER—or might be currently saying and challenging us to. We could offer our learning experiences and victories and encouragements on that item.

Enough interest in such??? or not?

Maybe it would not be enough different form this thread. But I think it could be—a very ordered, organized exploration and walk through the whole list in a more in-depth, intense fashion that I think would be more spiritually fruitful for all of us.

I guess I see this current thread as a kind of kibbutizing about the topic in a somewhat lighter, shallowER way—good in and of itself but not quite what the devotional could be.

Is the idea too off the wall?

Not at all. I like it. Could we have a little lightheartedness, though? If I promise not to post any more Kiss photos?

It’s true, we are being silly. I started it because nobody else was responding, at first :-).

We could have a devotional, and if someone puts “NO SILLINESS” on it, I promise to behave. (Really.)

Isn’t the daily Oswald Chambers thread supposed to be something like that, though ... a general Christian thread where everyone confines himself to edifying posts related to the topic?

No, I think that you are spot on.

The concept of maintaining an atmosphere of common (I wish) decency should indeed be kept on the front burner, to the best of our ability.

This has nothing to do with syrupy 'niceness', or false ecumenism. Real disagreement among professed Christians exists, on matters of real substance. Professed Christians hold mutually exclusive positions on a whole host of topics ... logically, some of 'us' are WRONG about something. It does no good to try to brush this scandalous fact under the rug.

BUT ... if we can't discuss the matter decently and respectfully; if our discussions invariably lead to mockery, insults, misrepresentations, distortions, rancor and bitterness, then they are worse than useless. They harden peoples' hearts, blind them to the truth, and give scandal to the rest of the world.

By the Grace of God, we can do better than that.
