Glad I saw this reminder.

Fascinating to watch, but I still like hearing the readings in English. Probably my Protestant background.

They’ll reread the readings in English after they’re chanted in Latin.

This takes me back to my childhood.! They’re doing this Mass at my parish later on today. Glad I printed out the guide from EWTN.

Technical difficulties during the Canon of the Mass?? That’s too much of a coincidence for me. The demons are trying to sabotage this transmission. They shudder in fear of this day.

How many people are there? Demographics?

I was never a Protestant, but it was difficult for me the first few times.

It grows on you, though.

Technical difficulties during the Canon of the Mass??

At least you're not in Boston. Comcast here makes EWTN share with Spike TV (a channel apparent geared to 20-30 year old males!). So I watched through the sermon, then it went to a commercial for "natural male enhancement" (!!!) and then to Spike TV! :(

Argh! Here in CT, EWTN splits time (we never get the prime-time hours) with local programming and other useless junk! Our bishop has pleaded with Cablevision to extend the broadcast hours it gives EWTN to no avail.

There seemed to be a few hundred seated in the church, but many more were let in for Holy Communion. They seemed to be of diverse age groups and were mostly white.

It was great to see Mother Angelica!

Technical difficulties??? Did the signal turn to snow during the canon? How long did the break last? I set my DVD to record this for viewing tomorrow; I sure hope the transmission wasn’t ruined for everybody. This was the ultimate showcase for neophytes to the TLM and the potentially interested. What a shame.

If the difficulties were in transmission rather than filming, you can always try again at one of the replays! :)

Good luck!

I thought that too! It was almost as if someone were jamming the satellite signal. From right after the consecration of the Precious Blood (pg. 15) until at about the Deacon’s Confiteor (pg. 20). That was a lot that we were not able to participate in! It will be interesting to see the repeat this afternoon. Hopefully, they have a tape of it which was independent of the satellite.

Yes. I just checked the EWTN website. They are replaying it at 6PM and at midnight tonight. I’ll be home from the TLM Mass of Thanksgiving St. Columkille’s in Brighton, MA early enough to record the midnight replay. It’s too bad that the live airing was “damaged,” though. I’m sure that there was sufficient build-up for this that at least several million people watched and/or recorded the live showing. I hope they can return for a clean presentation.

How long was the break in transmission?
