**Rick Warren, Evangelicals, Invite Muslims to Love God Together**

A Slice alert today as the Christian Post reports this morning that Rick Warren, Leith Anderson, the head of the National Association of Evangelicals, Bill Hybels and other evangelicals have signed a document urging Muslims to “love God” together with them and to find peace between the two religions. This is where it has all been heading, folks. You’ve been warned for a long time now that this new spirituality is coming. Here’s a quote from the article:

Christian leaders urged for an interfaith dialogue that moves beyond “polite” ecumenical talks between selected leaders. Instead, leaders of both faiths should hold dialogues to build relations that will “reshape” the two communities to “genuinely reflect our common love for God and for one another,” the Christian letter stated.“Given the deep fissures in the relations between Christians and Muslims today, the task before us is daunting. And the stakes are great. The future of the world depends on our ability as Christians and Muslims to live together in peace,” the letter added. “If we fail to make every effort to make peace and come together in harmony you correctly remind us that ‘our eternal souls’ are at stake as well.

The letter’s main emphasis is the “absolutely central” commonality between both religions: love of God and love of neighbor.

Other signers of the letter include Miroslav Volf, founder and director of the Yale Center for Faith and Culture; Dr. Martin Accad, academic dean of the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (Lebanon); Robert E. Cooley, president emeritus of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; Harvey Cox, Hollis professor of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School; and Bill Hybels, founder and senior pastor of Willow Creek Community Church.

The letter includes an “apology” to the Muslims for various wrongs that Christians have done them.

In the Christian response, Muslims have been asked to forgive Christians for their past sins – such as the Crusades and excesses of the “war on terrors” – as taught by Jesus Christ who said to “First take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out your neighbor’s eye” (Matthew 7:5).

THANK YOU for posting that video.

After watching the entire thing I was most distressed that so many respected Christian leaders have bought into this heresy/apostasy. Even the church I have been attending, has had years of 'Purpose Driven' programming, and all the other emerging church propaganda, thrown at the congregation... the most recent one being... the Church Doctor.... I always felt a bit quesy while the next '70 days of Whatever' was being brought forth for the congregation's consumption. This presentation clarified why I had those quesy feelings... That much of the ideology and implementation of 'Purpose Driven' was derived from such secular/humanistic management/psychological sources.

But most shocking to me, in this video was Billy Graham's statement, in the segment in his interview with David Frost, "that Christians have more in common with Islam than we think. And that he thinks we will all be together in heaven because of the light that they do have." ???

The Bible specifically says... 1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Islam says Jesus is not God ... that he is just another prophet. Islam is the full spirit of anti-christ and as followers of Christ we are to have no association with it... other than to proclaim the gospel to the muslims.

I have also been enlightened by recent articles on the caustic combination of the EmergingChurch/Leftist/Islamic forces that will align to create a one world government, that have been foretold in Biblical prophecy. This is a long read but well worth it... there are 5 parts.

Warren should first educate them about the difference between worshiping a God of light and love versus the moon and hatred.
Warren has become a real sell-out to liberalism, relativism, historic revisionism, and doesn’t seem to relate much back to the Bible these days.

It always puts me in mind of the lady who said, “Just because it’s in the cookie jar doesnt mean it’s a cookie”. I always picture a mouse wearing a cookie costume.

So goes it in the church. The “tares” scripture is appropriate.

Jeeze Louise, you can just hear those guitars strumming and the choir singing “Kumbaya”! GAG-o-rama!!!! Making kissy-face/huggy-bear with those whose goal is to kill Christians and Jews, convert them to mohammedanism at the point of a sword, or keep a few around as dhimmis to show how “tolerant” mohammedanism is. Thirty pieces of silver!!!! Next thing these “christian leaders” will say is that mohammedanism is a “religion of peace” and “we worship the same god!”

From the letter -

We applaud when you state that “justice and freedom of religion are a crucial part” of the love of neighbor. When justice is lacking, neither love of God nor love of the neighbor can be present. When freedom to worship God according to one’s conscience is curtailed, God is dishonored, the neighbor oppressed, and neither God nor neighbor is loved.

Since Muslims seek to love their Christian neighbors, they are not against them, the document encouragingly states. Instead, Muslims are with them. As Christians we resonate deeply with this sentiment.

And after "resonating," the letter goes on to demand law and policy reform in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Iran, Egypt, Gaza, Nigeria, Sudan, Uzbekistan, Sierra Leone, Yemen, Pakistan...

No? It doesn't do that?

Rick Warren ping.

More and more I’m convinced the last days kingdom is a revived Islamic caliphate and crap like this inches us ever closer to creating ideal conditions for its success. By the time it actually happens, mainstream western Christianity will be tripping all over itself to accommodate.

Rick Warren's Southern Baptist Denomination had absolutely nothing to do with the Crusades.

The future of the world depends on our ability as Christians and Muslims to live together in peace,”

The above line struck me as particularly inane, given that there is no assault of "Christians" against Muslims going on. That is beyond ignorant. Also, Rick Warren's Southern Baptist Saddleback Church and Bill Hybel's Willow Creek Church have absolutely NOTHING to do with national policy.

Perhaps the Rick & Bill show recall 9/11, WTC, 3000 dead, a War on Terror by our GOVERNMENT (not our local churches) against the perpetrators and abettors of terror.

They waste their breath, because the words they breathe simply don't have the ring of God's truth behind them.

Their God is not a god of love, but a god of hate. So I doubt this effort translates well into Islam.

In Islam, God does not live in heaven, he lives in hell stoking the fires with the bodies of the infidels.

At least Christians and Muslims can agree on where their god is from.

Brother Andrew’s Open Doors ministry is preaching the gospel to moslems, sometimes right into the very terrorist organizations that cause so much trouble like Hamas, PLO, and various jihad groups.

http://sb.od.org/

The ministry of Open Doors began in 1955 through the call of God to one man, Brother Andrew, a native of Holland, to “Awake and strengthen that which remains and is at the point of death.”

Fifty years on, the call to awaken continues to find its echo throughout the world. Bible delivery and leadership training have been core to the whole ministry. The fruits are abounding -

Open Doors - The First Fifty Years
Believers under communistic regimes have found their faith in God reaffirmed; minority believers in Muslim lands rediscover their status in Christ; brutalised Christians in Latin America conflict zones are comforted through an ongoing presence ministry.

Brother Andrew’s first book, ‘God’s Smuggler,’ is an all-time great in book publishing terms.
Available in twenty-seven different languages, ‘God’s Smuggler’ has not just been a book but an agent for change. It has helped redefine the boundaries of modern missionary endeavour and has aroused millions to the awareness of the Suffering Body of Christ in areas of limited access.

The ministry continues through an active band of full-time workers and volunteers accepting that there are no closed doors to the Gospel and the Word of God is not in chains.

Ministry Highlights
1955 Brother Andrew, founder of Open Doors, makes his first trip behind the Iron Curtain to take Bibles to persecuted Christians.

1955-65 Open Doors expands its network throughout Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union.

1965 The first Open Doors team travels to China.

Project Pearl - delivering a million bibles to China
1965-78 Open Doors expands to bring Bibles and encouragement to Christians in the difficult areas of Asia, Africa and Latin America.

1978 Contact with churches in the Middle East begins.

1980’s As persecution grows worldwide, Open Doors intensifies its prayer and Bible distribution campaigns, and begins holding pastoral training seminars.

1990’s With the fall of the Iron Curtain, Open Doors accelerates its work to take advantage of the new opportunities. The battle intensifies in China, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

Now As the spiritual battle intensifies and persecution increases in these last days, Open Doors will continue to go where faith costs the most, to equip and encourage Christians who are suffering for their faith world-wide.

Thanks for the link. I watched about 10 mins of it and am trying to figure out when I have time to sit and watch the rest. Godspeed on your hunt for good church. I had to leave 2 churches because they were getting into all this stuff. I found a wonderful PCA church that is very firmly rooted in scripture alone and has been for a long time.

yeah, the video is long but it is good and worth listening to for sure.

Sounds like you have yourself in a good church. Wish I found one like that.

I see no hint in the letter that evangelism is the ultimate purpose. Perhaps it is, but if so evangelicals like Rick Warren are hiding that purpose behind some very liberal company that would probably have little interest in evangelizing Muslims. Paul’s approach to the Greeks is an interesting parallel - though I would note that Paul did not assert with the pagan Greeks a common theology of loving God and loving their neighbor, as it seems that these Christians have done.

Rather, this letter is more along the lines of “we’re all together on this, let’s be friends” rather than Paul’s appraoch - “You are clearly religious, let’s talk about what you don’t know.”

Thanks for posting the link to that video. We watched half of it last Sunday, and the other half today. Very interesting and eye-opening stuff!

The information in the video makes it clear that many churches, like the one you went to, are community-service oriented, which fits in with the government’s and UN’s agenda. The great commission is not about serving others:

{{Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”}}

It is about sharing the Gospel!
