ROMAN CATHOLICISM: A DIFFERENT GOSPEL

ROMAN CATHOLICISM: A DIFFERENT GOSPEL

In their lust for unity the Emergent Church and post-evangelical “Protestants” are right now embracing the Roman Catholic Church as another Christian denomination. But the issue is simple: If, as taught the Church of Rome, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without “the new birth in baptism” then we are now in hopeless contradiction with the Gospel contained in Holy Scripture.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8)

Speaking The Truth In Love

Let me make this as clear as I possibly can for the Roman Catholics who may read this work in Christ from Apprising Ministries. I personally am former member of the Church of Rome and care very deeply about those, such as the majority of my own family line, who are trapped in this apostate man-made system of religion known as Roman Catholicism. I also fully realize that what I say may sound “unloving” and possibly even “harsh.” However, there is just nothing that I can do about that. By not telling the Truth we aren’t doing anyone a service.

***”The offspring of believers is born holy, because their children, while yet in the womb...are included in the covenant of eternal life. Nor are they admitted into the church by baptism on any other ground than that they belonged to the body of Christ before they were born...***

You are as off the mark as you have ever been. Where in the Bible does it say this?

You’ve made some wild claims; this takes the cake.

It was what they inferred and read into Scripture and how they wholesale arrogantly and abusively, irrationally, irresponsibly treated a number of missionary families that infuriated me.

Clearly that is unfortunate and NOT what we intend to do when sending out God’s workers to spread to good word of Christ crucified. Like the rest of the world we’re not perfect; conversely we’re sinful beings and as hard as we try to do the right thing we fail as much as the next person. I pray whatever situation that was improved and no souls were put into jeopardy.

I’ve heard we’re “closed-minded”, arrogant, etc many times from others...I can certainly understand that “fellowship” causes difficulty, but ultimately if we don’t agree on the big things do we really agree at all? Believe me the main reason fellowship is not with many other Lutheran churches et al is not for the small minor details, it’s some pretty big stuff that we and others disagree on and as such it is wise to maintain our space. To me it’s no different that two friends, one who is pro-choice and one is pro-life. They get along well, hang out but in the end they don’t believe the same thing and that, ultimately, is a divide which cannot be carried by mere fellowship. You either believe it or you don’t, period. If that makes it difficult, well, then I understand, but look at the teachings of Christ. They are not easy to follow, they seperate mother and daugther, son and father, etc...just as scripture tells us Christ said...

Sorry for the long rant, it just sort of rolled right out of my fingers...

Blessings.

Just had to add...remember, the majority of us WELS folks are of German ancestry so those adjectives are almost a badge of honor ;-)

From another article on this website I saw this:

...the SBC just continues its slide down toward complete apostasy with Dr. Frank Page, their president who has said:

I see many valuable contributions to the SBC coming from the Emergent Leaders Movement. I believe it is a positive thing to see a broader number of participants in our convention’s direction. I personally applaud this movement

That is simply a stunning comment.

Pure balderdash.

It’s tricky finding the cherry picked Scripture in order to support something on the order of this.

Imagine trying to distort Scripture in order to claim that one’s children are going to Heaven simply because one is of the Elite. The smug arrogance of the Calvinist knows no bounds.

Calvin alive today would drive a Prius, and be smug about it.

Judging by the gullibility of the Calvinists posting here, I’d think that he’d do the stretch Hummer limo but convince the True Believers (tm) that they had to do bicycles or Priuses.

Yes - that is sad, but true. I wrote to the executive board of the SBC not long after Mr. Page was elected president, protesting that and his embracing apostasy. No response. I hate false teaching and it has been infecting churches in all denominations, SBC included.

Were you wanting answers to your questions?

Did you read the article to see if, perhaps, it provided them?

Perhaps you might entertain the notion that man-made religions will all go down the same path eventually. There is one path that one might follow - that of Jesus.

“because their children, while yet in the womb...are included in the covenant of eternal life”

Ha, they can believe that and yet cannot believe that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, could have received Grace at the moment of her conception????????????

I tend to believe that it is all ego and conceit rather than faith.

***Ha, they can believe that and yet cannot believe that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, could have received Grace at the moment of her conception????????????***

Luke 1:
26
In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
27
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28
And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.”
29
But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
30
Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.
32
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, 11 and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
33
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
34
But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” 12
35
And the angel said to her in reply, “The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.
36
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived 13 a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
37
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
38
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.
39
During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah,
40
where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
41
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit,
42
cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.
43
And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord 14 should come to me?
44
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
45
Blessed are you who believed 15 that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
46
And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
47
my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
48
For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.
49
The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
50
His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him.

Certainly ego and conceit, and hubris and pride beyond all. That is the Protestant heritage.

Okay. So why concentrate on the “false” teachings of fellow Christians when there are a growing number of Islamists? For the life of me, I will never understand why so many non-Catholics have to take so many shots at the Catholics.

Who knows... Some of these people are positively obsessed about it. Then they get upset and even more prolific in their posts when it dawns on them that Catholics really don't care about them or their complaint du jour.

Come on Al. You've been around long enough to know the score is pretty much even.
