You are being ‘pinged’ because I have seen your heart for prayer on one or more recent Free Republic prayer threads. This thread is for those interested in worshipping and praying for those who support our troops and our troops themselves. If this is of interest to you, please read on. I have only been blessed to be part of the FR community for a few months. I was drawn to get involved by the prayers I saw posted in a prayer thread for a wounded Marine last August who was not expected to survive. (BTW, he not only survived by the power of prayer, but is still recuperating.)
In September 2007 I came to Washington D.C. from my home in Northern California at the invitation of a FReeper active in the D.C. Chapter. One of the reasons I was coming was to bring a song the Lord had had me compose and record (full story at www.holyspiritpress.org/standup.html) to support our troops and encourage our nation to support them even though I am a housewife and mother – not a professional singer (you can listen to the song at www.youtube.com/user/ascendinworship )
The Lord made it clear I was to make the trip even though at the time He had not yet revealed all the reasons why. I knew I was to bring copies of the CD to give our wounded at Walter Reed, as well as to stand with GOE at a press conference to support Petraeus on Captiol Hill, to walk with other GOE members through the halls of Congress and to hand out copies of STAND UP in the various congressional offices to encourage a vote to continue to fund the War On Terror. In addition, I was to visit the wounded Marine who at that point still lay in a coma and to worship and pray with his family in his room at Bethesda for his healing.
However, as the plane began its descent to land at Dulles airport in D.C. I felt like the Lord whispered a message to me and I wrote it down. In part it said, “You are going behind enemy lines to bring ME and MY encouragement, hope and covering (through the addition of prayer and worship to their activism) to those who tirelessly fight My fight, but in their own power. Most of these are in their own power right now. Bring them to ME. Teach them to seek, listen and rely on Me, so I can impart the strategy, the only strategy which will defeat the enemy – MINE…I will send you the prayer warriors. Link the prayer warriors – the intercessors and worshippers…wit the activists…Show them how it has always been – praisers lead into battle. Worship is rewarded by release of the supernatural strategy which WILL lead to victory.
Since that September 2007 D.C. trip, one D.C. Chapter Freeper and I have indeed prayed almost every single Friday by phone to cover planned D.C. Chapter activities for that night at Walter Reed and the weekend in prayer. We also pray regularly for the recovery of our wounded warriors and for a growing faith base in our country (because though we support our troops and those who support them, we also understand God’s overriding objective in all things on earth is to restore as many as will come back to Him for all eternity!) This young lady and I will likely continue our coast-to-coast weekly prayer. However, God has now laid on my heart that it is time to broaden the worship and prayer cover for the activities of those who support our troops, our wounded warriors, our deployed troops and their families.
I believe the many of the prayer warriors He would have participate are right here on Free Republic. I believe you will know who you are.
Please pray if you are called to join in united worship and prayer for those who support our troops and our military. (And please ‘ping’ anyone else you believe He might be calling to get involved.)
The power of our worship and prayers cannot be underestimated. Surely for those who are called it is as important as physically being present at the event. And while many of us would like to participate physically and tangibly in as many as the troop-supporting events as possible, this worship/prayer can be done anyplace, anytime – including at the events OR from home! It is vital and critical work and it is an honor to be called to it!!
As you all know, God’s first command is that we have no other gods before Him. Re-phrased, this means He commands us to worship Him alone. To worship is to bow down before something or someone because it is “worth” bowing down to. God is only One worthy of our worship. God is unchanging. How He was is how He is. He is also Truth, which by definition means He cannot lie. God promises to fulfill His promises, therefore we can expect Him to fulfill His promises for us just as He has done in every generation past, including in the stories of the Old and New Testaments. When we obey His command to worship, God promises to draw near.
Heaven is our model. In heaven, worship and intercession occur without ceasing: Angels and those who have gone before are constantly worshipping before the throne of God; Jesus is simultaneously worshipped and is interceding on our behalf at the right hand of the Father. Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father who is in heaven; holy is Your name; Your kingdom, come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The idea is for the remnant of His faithful on earth to create an atmosphere of worship, adoration and intercession which puts Him first (thus fulfilling ‘if my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves, seek My face and pray’, then He will restore our land 2 Chron 7:13)
God and His power are inseparable. It is part of who He is. Thus where He is present, so is His power. The objective through our united worship is to cause God to release a cloud of His glory which fills the atmosphere of this country, the battlefields of the War on Terror and ultimately the world. This will enable there to be results from the work done by the activists who support our troops to confound the world’s experts. Our troops and their supporters will not only be blessed by the manifestation of God’s supernatural in unexpected ways into their natural, but – even more importantly – the reality of God will be revealed to more people as well.
Are you called to be part of this worship and prayer cover for those who support our troops? This is the initial idea of how it will look (subject to change as things develop). The thread is to be ongoing. (Is that possible? Please tell me how to do it if it is not….) Periodically, as He leads, I will post a prayer He has had me write down as I pray it. You will be ‘pinged’. You are then responsible to respond only as He leads. For instance sometimes you may post a public response (it may be as simple as ‘prayers up’ or another prayer); you may post your own prayer to the thread and ping us; you may lurk and not let anyone know you are praying but pray in one accord; you may at times be called not to participate at all. The prayers posted can be intercession – asking/beseeching for something in particular – or worship – simply adoring Him in words for who He is what He does, what He’s done and what He definitely will do. The postings can be for a particular activism event someone is aware of or in general. DO AS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS.

God be with all of you. I can already tell from what little I have learned about you that your hearts are most definitely for Him. May He bless you richly and use you tremendously for His kingdom work whatever that work is.

Amen to the Wonderful Prayers Here, and God Bless the Prayer Warriors!
Dearest Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your Presence on the troop-supporting rally in D.C. yesterday. From one of your daughters I received good report by phone that there was an atmosphere of peaceful confidence on the day - no anger, no bitterness, just people pleased to band together, fully understanding why they were there. Lord God You answered all our prayers. You brought people who operated in the fruits of Your Spirit - standing strong and firm and bold, but with a spirit of gentleness in the quiet confidence that they were on the side of Your right.
Lord God, You blessed us with beautiful weather and we thank you. Our spiritual adversary could cause there to be a forecast for bad weather, but in the end, Your power is Supreme and You brought the weather You ordained.
Lord God, You caused there to be little or no opposition to this rally. Where the opposition sought unity, You caused there to be division amongst them. So much talk ahead of time of planned great, large demonstrations to be held in so many places and yet much of it amounted to little or nothing - there was no massiveness, no huge show of strength for the anti-war movement. We prayed, we showed a willingness to stand up locally where You might call, Your power moved to ensure what they threatened simply did not come to pass.
You are Sovereign! You are the one true God! Nothing and no one thwarts Your purposes! Oh, Mighty Warrior King, it is awesome how You work, bringing grand plans of the opposition to nought!
We thank You, dear Father God. We give You all the credit. We thank You for hearing our prayers and then answering them perfectly.
We wait now in joyful hope to see what You will do next. We remember to You other planned actions to rally to support our troops (for instance one scheduled in Berkeley for next Saturday - Holy Saturday, the ongoing FReeps in various places including Walter Reed on Friday nights and Olney on Saturday mornings; and the efforts to rally to support General Petraeus in early April.) We remember all these to You and ask You to continue to do the work according to Your promises and let not our troops be shamed or defamed any longer.
Be with our wounded and give them purpose in their recuperation which keeps them focused on the future and not in the pit which today can be. Be with our troops fighting valiantly overseas so we can enjoy this peaceful spring at home. Be with their families and be with the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice...We know You love them and count on You showing Your love to them in a way that they feel Your touch.
Be with our President this day. Give him Your Wisdom as he walks out the last months of his presidency. Surroud all involved in the upcoming election. Guide and direct ALL that is happening so that Your candidate is elected (because that is the only candidate we desire).
We trust in You and put all our hope in Your unfailing love. Thank you for Free Republic and for Jim Robinson’s obedience in beginning and maintaining this forum where we have the freedom to gather in Your name, In Jesus’ mighty Name, Amen.

Thank you so much for this prayer. ALL the prayers on this thread are balm to my heart, but this one touched me deeply and personally. It is the first prayer of what may become many which speaks of protecitng the spiritual condition of our soldiers. This is needed!
Recently the Lord has been reminding me that though the troops are in His will fighting this war, and though we honor them and owe them a debt of gratitude and any help we can give them, not all are leading lives which honor Him as Lord. So often within the troop-supporter community all our troops are referred to as ‘heroes’. Yet we who pray should not be blind. There is admirable behavior by many and there also can be some character issues in others which only can be adequately addressed through faith in Him
In 2005 the Lord gave me a vision of a canopy falling from heaven and providing a tent-like covering over our troops. It kept them safer than otherwise. He spoke to my heart that this covering would come in response to their worship (in spirit and truth).
Last year when I was wrapping some CDs in red, white and blue ribbon to ship to Iraq and Afghanistan, the white ribbon kept coming loose. I felt like the Lord was showing me that purity among our troops needed to be increased (that it was missing in some).
I believe the covering He showed me from the canopy comes in response to their worship -which entails putting God in His rightful place on the throne of their lives (and putting down any idols - habits which do not honor Him). Yes, salvation is by faith, but faith when it is authentic must lead to gradually transformed living. I pray with you in one accord that our men and women serving day-by-day would be drawn to live lives of consecration to Him where they are seeking holiness.
This will bring increase of His protection on the battlefield and swifter victory by His power in the war.

Heavenly Father, Awesome Lord, Beautiful Savior,
In this week when we commemorate Your Passion, we are reminded once again how unfathomable Your love is for us. You ruled from heaven, You had no need to do anything and yet You gave up everything for love of us. Lord God, You amaze us and we bow before Your throne in reverential awe, unable to truly grasp all that You are and the depths of Your love for us.
Lord God, there has always been a war of good versus evil and there always will be. Evil will always seek to gain dominion and to “dominate” for its own gain. Evil does not desire freedom and dignity for the individual, but power for self.
Lord God, the price to retain freedom has always been to fight for it - both by prayer and worship in the supernatural and physical battles in the natural. As long as earth exists, this will never change because evil will always seek more - even if good says “let’s make peace - everybody stay on their own side of the line”. And so, every generation before has fought to preserve our freedoms in this country and to help others push back darkness as well. There is a generation which has been risen up to fight for us now and there are several generations who You are rising up to stand up at home for those who fight for us overseas. God, bless those who fight for us overseas and bless those who stand up for them here at home. We especially ask You to be with all those who stand up to support our recruiting offices. Lord the numbers don’t matter, the spirit of the effort does. Call those to stand up whom You have fore-ordained. Surround them with Your shields of protection. In places like L.A. where groups like Code Pink have broadcast a desire to have many come and de-fame our veteran’s outside the cemetery where they are buried, we ask You to keep them from coming in any great number. Let everything they seek be less. Let traffic hinder them, errands and work which runs longer, family needs keep them away. Let what they have purposed come to nought unless it is by Your will.....We TRUST in You God, that what You send to support our dear troops will be exactly enough. And we thank You for all those who are standing up - Free Republic, Patriot Guard Rider, Gathering of Eagles, EAgles UP (to name only a FEW). God bless them all. Be a shield around them. Give them safe passage, and self-control from You. CAuse them to be different, acting with decorum and respect as they stand up for what is right in Berkeley this weekend and everywhere else.
We dream of large numbers, and ask You to send them. But YOU know what is needed.
Lord God, give the media eyes to see that the public is behind our troops. Give the media a heart to cover the true story, which is that this is not Vietnam and the anti-war movement is dead. Yes, Lord, let this be the story.
Continue to re=build our country on YOUR principles one step at a time. If You show us the work to be done, we commit to worship, to pray, to seek Your strategy and then to walk out the work.
Be with our troops on the battle fields and with their families.
Thank You for being a God who HEARS our prayers. The battle is Yours, Lord and it is already won. We thank You for EASTER - RESURRECTION DAY, for all our purposes are bound up in this. In Jesus’ mighty and precious Name, Amen
