Mormonism is a very very strange religion. Of course many religions seem strange to the uninitiated, I suppose.

The pseudo-history presented in this excerpt is a prime example.

While the Bible contains lots of history, it has turned out to be an accurate history, even by the standards of the atheist academy.

When one combines the bizarre history, the hidden artifacts, and the strange behaviour of the founders it just looks like the 19th century version of Scientology to me.

I have no problem with that. People are free to believe what they want in the USA. Mormons do seem to be mostly good people who work hard and take care of their kids. I have several Mormon and ex-Mormon friends.

But I still think the religion is wacky, and nothing posted in these threads has done the least to make me think otherwise. In fact, it is re-enforcing that belief.

I am open minded & have a live and let live attitude. However pushing it into the news is a big turn off to me.

Just like it was `revealed’ to Mormons to reject polygamy, accept blacks in the Melchizedek priesthood, remove the death oaths in the Temple ceremony, etc.

I read the "Let's counter all the FLDS threads" thread so I do know why we are subjected to all these Mormon information postings lately but .....GEEZ, this isn't news! The FLDS raid is news. Sorry.

You all may think that you are only inundating the religion forum but in actuality, with the new FR look, you are inundating the news forum with this, too.

You may as well face it, the FLDS has pretty much screwed the LDS as far as people making a connection between the two.....no matter if you post umpteen million threads in news/activism countering it.
