A former pastor at Planos Prestonwood Baptist Church remained in jail Thursday morning, facing additional charges of online solicitation of a minor, authorities said. Joe Barron was first arrested by the Bryan Police Department last month after he tried to meet with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old girl for sex, authorities said. The two had communicated online.
Mr. Barron was charged with one count of online solicition of a minor. He later posted $7,000 bail and was released. He was arrested again Wednesday afternoon and faces four additional counts of online solicitation from the Bryan Police Department and two additional counts of online solicitation out of Louisiana, according to the Brazos County Sheriffs Office.
Mr. Barron remained in Brazos County Jail Thursday morning and bail information was not immediately available. In mid-May, authorities said they had evidence that Mr. Barron communicated online with more than a dozen girls. Police said he made a three-hour drive to Bryan on May 15 to try to meet with someone he thought was a 13-year-old girl. When he was arrested, police found a box of 10 condoms and a Web camera, which police believe he was going to give to the victim. He had driven his wife's car.
Mr. Barron worked at Prestonwood, a Plano megachurch with more than 20,000 members, for about 18 months and ministered to married adults. He resigned after his first arrest last month.

Yet another reason why Pastors are fitted for office only by known character and fruits of the Spirit. They don’t come out of degree mills or ‘have a call.’
You know what I’d like to see in a headline? “ATHEIST/PAGAN CAUGHT SOLICITING MINORS ONLINE!!” Does it happen? Sure it does. Do we read about their (non)religious affiliation? Never.
The church is in Plano, not Prestonwood (if there is such a town in Texas)
The addition to the headline should have gone at the end rather than in the middle.
This is rich! This article has been posted for hours and if it was about a Catholic Priest, the ususal suspects would have been all over this thread like white on rice with their vile comments, but because it’s one of their own...CRICKETS.
If you think that Baptist want these perverts in their churches you are badly mistaken.
We get your point, that you have a huge chip on your shoulder.
When anyone molest a child it is despicable.
Please keep posting these articles. I appreciate them. As you know, there are numerous vociferous protestant posters who are still in denial over the extent of the problem OUTSIDE the Catholic church.

What’s your point?
If you can’t figure it out....
No sir, I don’t, but I get tired of the vile comments towards my Catholic beliefs. Believe what you want, I don’t care, but stop dragging my relion through the sewer because it is the only one founded by Jesus Christ, himself!
