This is Rod Dreher's comment:

"But truth is not determined by emotion, as I see it, and certainly I find it epistemologically arrogant to assume that an early 21st-century white American bourgeois male can stand in judgment of Scripture and the Church, and the long, long experience of humankind on marriage."

It's Jones who is saying the church should bless "LBGTQ" activity.

“Emotionally, I’d just as soon say, ‘Let everybody marry, it’s nothing to me.’ I want my gay friends to be happy,” writes Dreher. “But truth is not determined by emotion, as I see it, and certainly I find it epistemologically arrogant to assume that an early 21st-century white American bourgeois male can stand in judgment of Scripture and the Church, and the long, long experience of humankind on marriage.”

Feelings over TRUTH, again.

Wait till they meet up with Christ ...

it won’t be a happy moment.

This is not a church. It’s just a group of pinheads preaching about “warm fuzzies”.

What you say is true of Christians and these people are NOT Christians. We warn our brethren of their transgressions.
These people have shown a definite mind-set that is apart from God therefore they need to be extricated IF they will not repent and turn from their evil ways.
What they teach can do great damage to young or weak Christians and should NOT be tolerated.

People’s feelings? Heck, sin always polls well and so people always want the Bible to agree with their lifestyles.

And I say that as a sinner.

They are protestants, however, and that ‘church’ preaches: Every Man his own pope.

The truth is no one is perfect but Christ.

That aside it is not a licesnse to be an unrpentend sinner as these folks are.

What’s going on is this:

Rom.12:2

[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

It is all part of the falling away mentioned here:

2Thes.2:3

[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

As for sound doctrine ...

1Tim.1:10

[10] For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

2Tim.4:3

[3] For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Tit.1:9

[9] Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

So I think we know where things stand ... .

Keep the Faith!

And keep looking UP!

“best hope for passing the torch of Christianity to future generations.”

They’re not “Christian.” Not with a theology like that.

“Emergent Church” = latest iteration of liberal Christianity, wearing “evangelical” clothing!

No, he said truth overrules emotion.

That is what SHOULD happen but many don’t see it that way.

They FEEL bad and FEEL like they should find this acceptable.

It’s crazy out there ... especially when you have kids ... and you have to tell them the TRUTH but also caution them that the TRUTH is not politically correct.

It sounds like he’s fully “emerged.” From where, I won’t attempt to guess.

praised by others as the best hope for passing the torch of Christianity to future generations.

They're passing something, but it's not Christianity.

Yep.

Jones admits his experiences and feelings led him toward a different conclusion.

Yes, you're right. However, this was unusually Deep Thought compared to Rod Dreher's usual writing, which was why I'm surprised.

Next, he might ask himself why "marriage" would make his gay friends happy, if they're not already happy just living together and doing (er) whatever they suppose will make them happy in a LBGTQ way. Maybe he would conclude that repenting from sin, refraining from further sin of that kind, and seeking psychological help might be more conducive both the immediate happiness and eternal happiness.

I don’t even know where to begin. I hang my head in prayer, “How long oh Lord, how long must we endure?”
