Marilyn Agee
Even the Rapture Ready folks think she's a bit off.
19981998 Marilyn Agee, in her book, The End of the Age, had her sights set on May 31, 1998. This date was to conclude the 6,000-year cycle from the time of Adam. Agee looked for the rapture to take place on Pentecost, which is also known as the Feast of Weeks. Another indicator of this date was the fact that the Holy Spirit did not descend upon the apostles until 50 days after Christ's resurrection. Israel was born in 1948; add the 50 days as years and you come up with
After her May 31 rapture date failed, Agee, unable to face up to her error, continued her date setting by using various Scripture references to point to June 7, 14, 21 and about 10 other dates.
1999
Well, you can't call Marilyn Agee a quitter. After bombing out badly several time in 1998, Marilyn set a new date for the rapture: May 21 or 22 of this year.
Ignore whatever she says.
The pattern we are given when the Lord abandoned the tabernacle which was at Shiloh, which led to the Ark being taken and held by the Philistines for seven months. Its in the book of Samuel. I will try and send you the complete study privately, it is long, but I will see if it will go through.
Hey that is as likely as anything else. He does move in mysterious way. Oh and I instantly turn of anyone who tries to tell me they know exactly how it will all play out. That arrogance must surely annoy the him.
“The Bible plainly teaches that those who are Gods elect WILL indeed know the time. “
Like this one???
“When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.”
???
You are saying the 2nd rapture is in 2022
2012- Would then be half of the 5 yr tribulation meaning the start of the tribulation came in October 2008
ITA—Can’t help but think God looks down on all this speculation and interpretation and chuckles a bit. The ultimate ‘mystery’ conceived by the creator of all time and space, and some feeble humans think they can ‘figure it all out.’ I mean, He loves us, but you know this has got to be entertaining to watch for Him.
Hey—Christians...He loves you...He’s coming back to get us someday. How and when He does it really isn’t what we’re supposed to be about. I believe Jesus told us what true religion is, and it’s not ‘figuring out the second coming mystery.’ I believe His words were “caring for orphans and widows in their affliction.” Let’s do that, okay?
He’s coming, real soon now, be ready and repent, it’s coming, wait for it, here it comes, well maybe not now but it will, just watch, twinkling of an eye, so don’t blink, get ready for it, look busy....
2012- Would then be half of the 5 yr tribulation meaning the start of the tribulation came in October 2008
You lost me entirely, starting with the 2012 and 2008 dates. Are you saying that the Tribulation's going to last five years or ten years?
I retain a rather dim view of date speculating.
I do, however, believe we ought to be confessed up, repented up, watching, and ready to go up 24/7 in this increasingly dramatic END TIMES era, decade . . .
cue a long stream of cartoon critters
ROLLING ON THE FLOOR, LAUGHING OUT LOUD AND HOLDING THEIR STOMACHS
at such clueless preterist, amil, Calvinist etc. notions about the END TIMES.
The bible clearly states when Jesus will come back to earth which can be found in the book of Daniel.
Jesus returns at the end of Daniels 70th week to save Israel and destroy the armys gathered in the valley of Meggido. His return is also talked about in the old testament in Isaiah, Ezekiel, and Zechariah, to name a few.
Jesus said in Matt CH 24 that when you see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the Holy Place (whoever reads, let him understand) Then let those in Judea flee to the mountains....
This did not happen when Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in AD 70 because verse 21 of Matt CH24 says “then there will be tribulation such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor shall ever be. 22 And unless those days were shortened no flesh would be saved...
So from the time that the “abomination of Desolation” until Jesus return is 3 1/2 yrs (1260 days). That is the only time we will know the time of Jesus return.
There is another event that has no preceding signs. It is called the “transfiguration” or “rapture”. That event can happen at any time. Check out Pauls letter to the Thessolonians, he had to reassure them that their loved ones who had died as martyers would not miss out on that event. Paul even said that they will precede them in the order of events. In I Thess. CN 4 verses13-17, which clearly has us meeting Jesus in the air and him and us returning to heaven. This is not the second coming which has many signs and a time line leading up to his coming back to the earth.
I am not trying to predict dates, but I do think Jesus gave us signs and seasons to look for, not to confuse us, but for us to remain steadfast, study prophecy and always be ready..
So here is my Prophecy Food for Thought for today..
If Revelation 8 happened this year 2008
Revelation 8 - The First Four TrumpetsSince heaven is a place of constant praise and worship to God (Revelation 4:8-11 ) silence for about half an hour....Silence for a half hour might be the Sun being quiet (No sunspots)
If GOD sends a deception to people it might be the End of the World prophecy of the Maya Calendar which ends in 2012 12/21/2012 or it could be the rapture mid-point which does give 2015 some credibility.
I know you are kidding, but, that is probably the end of an age and not the end of the world. There's a difference.
Thanks to Alex Murphy for hosting.
Surely there is a chart somewhere that will help us sort all this out!!!!
Precisely. I think the author COMPLETELY misses the point. The whole idea was to to warn that NO MAN - including the author - knows when. Day or hour. Or year for that matter. The point was to BE READY. It may come tomorrow. It may come 50 years from now.
And as an aside: It's not a "tribulation" if all those that would face "trial" during that time have been raptured. Christians will be persecuted DURING the tribulation. It won't be until after that the 2nd coming will occur.
My two cents.
ROLLING ON THE FLOOR, LAUGHING OUT LOUD AND HOLDING THEIR STOMACHS
Ah, dear Quixy. Feeling well, I see.
Precisely. I just got done making the point on another response that it's not a "tribulation" if those that would face the trials have already been taken.
