You seem to have no faith in the power of the Holy Spirit, but rather, man. Which of course will leave you lacking in such power.

Pity, really. Of course that is entirely the problem. Expecting man instead of God and His Power to intervene.

I’d say that is exactly why the world is in the mess it’s in.

Faith in man? Me? You obviously haven’t read too many of my posts!

The only reason the pope and the bishops in union with him are able to teach infallibly on faith, morals, and doctrine is because the Holy Spirit inspires them. The pope is just a man, after all. He sins like any other man. His reason is subject to error just like every other man’s. The difference is that our Lord gave St. Peter the authority to teach the truth by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that authority is what gives St. Peter’s successors the the final say as to what is and is not the truth.
