How can a good God allow these unspeakable horrors?
This question must have been uttered by millions of those held captive in concentration camps in WWII.
It’s too bad that we always involve God in anything catastrophic. It’s easy that way — blame Him when we screw up.
WWII could have been prevented if England and France had honored their commitment to come to the aid of Checoslovakia and Poland. Instead they acted cowardly and reneged on their promise. The results were Auschwitz, Treblinka or other death camps.
How could a good God have allowed Islam to overrun us, many European and American Christians will ask some day. I think that, by now, you know the answer to the question. They will overrun us simply because we allow them to live among us knowing full well that they are totally incompatible with any western culture.
God may not say it out loud, but I’m sure that He asks the question, “How can mankind allow the wanton slaughter of innocent unborn life?

It is also what He asks us to do. Directly and through His Son.
Hey, if you want to call for smiting, I most certainly won’t stand in your way.
It just isn’t very Christian. Or even Jewish.
But I would never stand between someone’s personal relationship with God and how God has told him to tell others to get lost.
Never.
The simple answer that everyone knows deep down is: There is no God.
Obama got elected, the world is falling into the crapper, innocent Haitians get clobbered by a quake after suffering in unimaginable poverty, good people get cancer and other horrible afflictions all the time while many bad people live long and healthy lives. No benevolent God would ever allow that.
If God existed, he’d have to run things in a karma-based manner and we all know that’s not the case. ipso facto, he doesn’t exist.
No guy in the sky.
No supreme dude up in heaven. No hell. No eternal afterlife.
Deal with it.
Imagine that a point value system could be devised to accurately measure “suffering” of everything from a minor discomfort (cut,headache) to an agonizing tortuous death, and even a day in hell.
Such a system could then be used to measure and compare the suffering of one person to another on any given day, and even a total suffering value of one’s entire life... whether it be the suffering of an unborn fetus at the hands of an abortionist, or a 97 year old man who spent 30 years of his life in a communist prison camp.
I wonder how the point value of a single day in hell of anyone would compare to the point value of a lifetimes worth of suffering of the average human being throughout history?
Better yet, How about if we use that value system to compute the lifetime suffering value of every single person that ever walked the face of the earth and sum them all into one gigantic number which would represent the suffering of mankind on earth for the last 6000+ years.
I wonder just how long it will take for a single person in hell to exceed that astronomical BUT finite value of mankind’s suffering on earth?
Long time? maybe... maybe not... point is, eventually, it will happen... and at some point every person in hell will individually double the suffering value of mankind on earth... and then triple it... and so on.
You may say that God doesn’t exist or does not love us because we are allowed to suffer...
But I say that we suffer as a means of finding Him...
and that He allows us to suffer because He DOES love us.

Come on! Many ancient religions have had stories similar to those in the bible and those religions have all failed and gone away. Current religions will, too. God doesn’t exist. Even ask all the millions of people who pray to Ra and Zeus and the other failed deities on the ash heap of history. Oh, that’s right, there aren’t millions of people who worship them any more.
It’s all stories. Some good, some bad, none are proof of any divine existence of any kind.
And to those that are tempted to quote the bible, don’t bother. typing a bible verse to try to prove God is akin to typing a paragraph from Moby Dick to prove the existence of a white sperm whale. It’s a good story, but it’s fiction. Got it? Fiction. Just like the bible.

And I won't quote any Bible passages to you, but I will say a prayer for you.
It wasn't Lot. It was Abraham. And he didn't search for just one good man. He searched for ten. That was the last number he and God agreed on. If he had been searching for just one good man, he would have found it in Lot.
Well, a Lot I know.

This is certainly untrue, even from a strictly materialist, or naturalistic point of view. Have you seen the R. Crumb Genesis? I got it for Christmas ( by request. ) It's a completely straight rendition, and the author notes that many pious rendentions take outrageous liberties, which he does not allow himself, as he advertises with the slogan, "Nothing left out!"
What's remarkable about the Torah is the unbroken longevity of its preservation as a book that is used, read, studied, and interpreted. These writings were never buried and rediscovered later. They are the oldest texts in continuous use in Western civilisation. No wonder that people believe them to be the word of God.

That’s OK, my favorite verse is John 3:17,...it doesn’t begin with: “Except,...”.
Careful, you might actually attract His attention.
Now prove to yourself that you can avoid Him.
If you succeed, will that prevent Him from separating good from evil and removing that which He doesn’t find to have anything righteous from His presence forever?
Will your denial of His existence overpower His Being without replacing God with selfish arrogance?
Which is more veritable, His love or the arrogance of the proud?
Yes there is. These things are predicted:

If these things have so shaken your faith as to deny God Himself, yer gonna really hate what's still coming.

The very root of the USA depends upon God. "Unalienable Rights" are not unalienable if we are to take your view.
