Benny Hinn 'Shocked' by Divorce Papers (wife, Suzanne files for divorce)
Christian Post ^ | 02/21/2010 | Audrey Barrick

Posted on 02/21/2010 6:38:29 AM PST by SeekAndFind

After more than 30 years of marriage, faith healer Benny Hinn may be heading to divorce court.

Benny Hinn Ministries on Thursday confirmed that his wife, Suzanne Hinn, filed a petition for divorce in Orange County Superior Court on Feb. 1. She cited irreconcilable differences.

Though the couple separated on Jan. 26, according to court papers, the organization released a statement expressing shock.

"Pastor Benny Hinn and his immediate family were shocked and saddened to learn of this news without any previous notice," said Don Price, longtime senior advisor to Benny Hinn Ministries. "Although Pastor Hinn has faithfully endeavored to bring healing to their relationship, those efforts failed and were met with the petition for divorce that was filed without notice."

Just months before the petition, world renowned and controversial preacher Benny Hinn had come out to the public to answer his critics for the first time.

For years, Hinn has been a subject of scrutiny by the media and recently the government for the miraculous healings he claims to perform and the lavish lifestyle he leads. He travels to cities across the globe conducting "miracle crusades" and services. Reports from each event indicate that dozens are miraculously healed from a physical ailment, though Hinn admitted to ABC News recently that he doesn't have medical verification of the healings.

He also told ABC he has no misgivings about the comfortable lifestyle – a private jet, fancy hotel stays, and a multimillion-dollar home – he leads.

"Look, you know there's this idea supposedly that we preachers are supposed to walk about with sandals and ride bicycles. That's nonsense," he said.

Hinn is currently under a Senate investigation for possible financial misconduct.

Just where did Jesus in his prohibition of Divorce mention mitigating circumstances surrounding the sordid practice.

"And it hath been said, Whoseoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce. But I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting for the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery." Matthew 5:31-32

"They say to him: Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorce, and to put away? He saith to them: Because Moses by reason of the hardness of your heart permitted you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery." Matthew 19:7-9

What makes you think Protestants are ok with divorce?

Because a divorced Christian(s) can be remarried in most Protestant churches.

You were saying ...

Can you elaborate? I thought it was ok since Protestants are ok with divorce. I am asking this purely for informational purposes not making a snide or disparaging comment.

Well, usually it works this way... a pastor believes that until he's divorced... doncha know... :-)

“His wife is a bit of a grotesque whack job , though.” ~ Nonstatist

The UNDERstatement of the year. :)

But they deserve each other; She wishes for a “Holy Ghost Enema”
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jhw_5ye8Qo

And her husband Benny has wished for a “Holy Ghost Machine Gun” and an exception to that pesky “Thou shalt not kill” commandment.

“You know, I’ve looked for one verse in the Bible — I just can’t seem to find it — one verse that says, If you don’t like ‘em, kill ‘em. I really wish I could find it!... Sometimes I wish God would give me a Holy Ghost machine gun. I’d blow your head off!”

Many protestants find no problem with divorce and remarriage.

Perhaps the term ok was inappropiate. Ronald Reagan had two marriages both at Protestant churches. Obvously his divorce from Jane Wyman did not preclude him from having a church wedding to Nancy Davis.

After watching that clip of his wife, I’m reminded of what Jay Leno once said: If Jesus came back and saw everything they are doing in His name, he would start vomiting and never stop.

Then they probably are not real Christians.

There are plenty of “Christians” in name only.

So please prove with irrefutable evidence her commission of the act of fornication as to allow him this divorce and continuation of his pastorate to save us the unwashed. Maybe they can obtain an annulment from Rome and appease all concerned.

Just where did Jesus in his prohibition of Divorce mention mitigating circumstances surrounding the sordid practice.

It would be good for you to read what Jesus said again before you make a judgment...

Matthew 19:8-9

8Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."

There is that mitigating circumstance right there IN HIS WORDS.

The apostle Paul mentioned another one in his epistle, but let's stick to what Jesus taught first and then, we'll discuss what St. Paul taught.
