The city of Gilbert, Ariz., has ordered a group of seven adults to stop gathering for Bible studies in a private home because such meetings are forbidden by the city's zoning codes.
The issue was brought to a head when city officials wrote a letter to a pastor and his wife informing them they had 10 days to quit having the meetings in their private home.
The ban, however, prompted a response from the Alliance Defense Fund, which filed an appeal with the city as the first step in its campaign to overturn a provision it describes as illegal.

So big deal: they meet to watch football and happen to bring Bibles. End of issue.
I am under the belief that the first Christians met, ate and sang in each others homes.
In my humble opinion, we could reach more of our neighbors, if we opened our homes such as those in Gilbert, AZ.
Our dear government wants everything organized, and TAXED.
We may end up hiding from the government, and sharing meals again, soon.
I live in Gilbert as well. I almost took this as satire. I go to a larger Bible Based Church that sponsers area communities. Which means taking a larger church and making it smaller with home groups. The funny thing is Gilbert is a very conservative Town. This ruling won’t last.
Plus they'd provide transportation to and from, and lunch to boot.

“The whole thing is based on trying to shut us down so that nobody has any rights,” Warren said. “Just because you live in a small area does not mean you don’t have rights. Everything I believe about the Constitution and what it means to be a citizen of the USA is being shot down.”

Exactly!! You said it beautifully. This Bible study group needs to study about the persecution of the early Christians. THAT was persecution.
I thought the same thing. What about FREE speech.

And to think that the Catholic Church actually started in small home churches!
The apostles attended the synagogue of Saturday and then held their Eucharistic celebration meal on Sunday in honor of Chrit’s resurrection.
Tell the copos it’s bridge night and then it’s okay. Some of these cities need to be abolished and start all over with some common sense.
