Kevin Knight over at New Advent has a New Advent Exclusive up. It's a big picture of His Lordship with a link to the San Antonio Archdiocesan website.

The prodigious announcement of the new Archbishop of Los Angeles who will be Archbishop Gomez, could be made as soon as tomorrow according to Rocco at Whispers in the Loggia. There will be a press conference tomorrow at 10am.

We hope that the change will take place before Cardinal wreckovates St. Charles Boromeo Cathedral.

Mahoney made St. John’s seminary very gay friendly, established garbage liturgies, plastered the churches with purple carpets, wrecked San Roque’s beautiful architecture in Santa Barbara, wants to mess with St. Charles in Hollywood. It’s been a tragedy for all good Catholics ever since 1985.

Please, to all my brothers and sisters, Mahoney is liberal but he still possesses the charism of a Cardinal. Please refrain from nasty comments.

Being a member of Opus Dei, the new archbishop will be like a cold slap in the face to the giddy modernists running amok in the archdiocese.

The party’s over!

It’s hard to rank them, there are so many.

If he is canonized, it will be necessary to explain, forever after, that a saint can still be a lousy Pope.

And he was a lousy Pope. Just ask the people who have had to live with Bernardin, Law, O’Connor, Mahony, Weakland, Wuerl, Dolan, and George, and...

There is no charism of a Cardinal.

Well, if he'd act like one, it might be easier to respect him as one. You should hear what one of my friends in LA says about him.

I don't understand why you say there is no charism of a Cardinal.

Is not charism, simply chaismata? My understanding is that there is charismata in all the hierarchy of the church.

Let’s hope this new archbishop is a lot more conservative.

For myself, I prefer using either conservative or traditional, not orthodox until our Eastern Orthodox brothers and sisters come home.

He holds the office and wears the hat. Respect is due him regardless of his political inclinations.

Respect is due him regardless. He is there as a representative of the Vatican and can consecrate the Eucharist. Besides that, he gave me a blessing once and instantly cured me of a malady I had.

“Cardinal” is an honorific, and a function in the Church. But it is not a sacramental order. Most Cardinals are archbishops, a few have been priests.

I respect your opinion. However, I am not in the position to judge a Cardinal. Having said that, I hope his successor adheres to orthodoxy a bit better.
