LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Cardinal Roger Mahony spoke out Thursday and launched a new Web site about immigrants.
Mahony sees anti-immigrant hysteria and its impact on those he calls brothers and sisters.
"Scapegoated and put into categories and not seen as real people," said Mahony.
The conversation must change, he says. And it can start with his new Web site, Faces of Immigrants (http://www.facesofimmigrants.org/). You can listen to the stories of individuals, know their terror and find out why they came to the U.S.
"Do you think drug dealers and cartels are shipping their goods with families, with strollers and babies going down to the supermarket?" said Mahony. "That's crazy."
He does not pull punches. On enabling police to demand papers of suspected illegals, he likens it to Nazi and Communist Russia techniques.

Uhhhh, that's exactly who they use Cardinal. You really think they are going to trust a heavily tatooed, bald, intimidating looking gang banger with a long criminal history to smuggle a hundred thousand dollars worth of cocaine into the country? Might as well put a big "search me - I'm a drug mule" sign on him too.
The Pope should post this big shot to Mexico City. See how well his theology flies down there.

It’s the RCC’s MO to support all immigration, legal or illegal.

Actually, unless you are an ultra-montanist, even BXVI doesn’t speak for the ENTIRE Church. Their has rarely been a time when the Pope had dictatorial control over Church practice and doctrine, at least in terms of how it was implemented. The religious orders have always had a high degree of independence.
Well, in a practical sense you are right. As the Vicar of Christ, he has the authority to do so, but, on a practical basis, I doubt that any modern pope would have the ability to do so.
You have it. I have never heard an American bishop criticize the Mexican government in such terms. Mexicans are mostly decent folks, but their government is one of the world’s worst, and it is right on our border. One problem is that our elites are scared to death of revolution in Mexico. It would be Cuba with oil.
Cardinal Mahony has been perverting the Church’s Teachings and Mass for a very long time now and could care less for standing up against abortion or Obama care! He is in bed with socialists and Marxists.

The Holy Father speaks for the whole Church but on an issue by issue basis. He is more like a chief justice than a king or president. His decisions are binding, but his opinions are more guidelines than dictats. And he depends on a multitude of others to execute his decrees.
Well, he seems not to have a lot of admirers on FR. ;-)
