Pray for the Republic and Obama Week 80

According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Father God, According to the mercy which is in Christ Jesus and the truth of Your Word we come to You this day, knowing it is only because of Your grace that we are able to even take our next breath and humbled that You would associate with sinners such as us. Lord of All, I confess that my faith is so weak that I don't feel worthy to lead such a prayer movement as this, particularly when I know I have mixed motives concerning the outcome. Part of me is angry over the evils being done in America that I think it is high time we were taught a lesson. Another part of me is so angry with our government that I forget their humanity and just want to see Your punishment upon them. And yet, within me are two natures. The flesh says get 'em. The spirit says, not as I will but as You will. The flesh says, what sinful despicable creatures. The spirit says, as am I. Lord, I am not better than they. Some of my sin may indeed be worse than many of their sins for when I sin I do so without the chains of sin around me. My life has been quickened by the Spirit of God. I know better. They are just lost people acting like lost people. I should do better. I should be better. But, I'm not. Lord, forgive my sins. Forgive my failings. Forgive my sins of omission. Forgive my arrogance and pride and cleanse me thoroughly by the blood of Christ. Lord, where there are doubts, bring assurance. Where there is a lack of faith bring faith about. Where there is a timidity towards Your ways, bring passion towards You, towards Your Son, towards Your Word. Lord, may my life and the lives of my fellow prayers be spent for You. This nation, beloved as she is, will pass away. Whether it is going to happen with this administration, only You know. But we know that one day, former things including America will fade and a new world will begin. May it be for that world that we store up our treasure and hope, and not in this life only.

As a student of History, Lord, I know that You could change the entire situation for this country in one breath. What man calls impossible, You could bring about. If it is in Your heart to save America, all of Satan's forces together at full force couldn't even come close to stopping You from saving her.

There have been times in the past where she was in a dire condition. You saved her then. Perhaps You will save her yet. But, if not - we still love You, and we still wish to glorify Your name and the name of Your precious and holy Son, the living Christ, Jesus of Nazareth.

Lord, work through us, weak though we are, we pray, knowing that when we are at our weakest is exactly when You show Your strength. You alone are mighty to save, and we pray that Your might would be displayed in our lives and that of our fellow countrymen.

For it is in Jesus' precious and holy name that I pray, Amen.

Joel 2:12-17

Rend Your Heart

12 “Even now,” declares the LORD,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting and weeping and mourning.”
13 Rend your heart
and not your garments.
Return to the LORD your God,
for he is gracious and compassionate,
slow to anger and abounding in love,
and he relents from sending calamity.
14 Who knows? He may turn and have pity
and leave behind a blessing—
grain offerings and drink offerings
for the LORD your God.

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You as sinners in need of Your cleansing, mercy and grace. Lord, we confess to You, that we have strayed from You as a people who are called by Your name. There are those in this country who live in sin and think that You don’t care or see what is going on. But they make a grave error in their thinking. They are drawing a wrong conclusion from the fact that You are patient and longsuffering. Help us Lord, help us not to confuse Your mercy with blindness and ignorance. You see everything we do, and nothing escapes You. Lord, we pray for our President, for You also see his actions, and like the writer of Psalm 10:11 wrote:

He has said in his heart,
“God has forgotten;
He hides His face
He will never see.”

Lord, bring our President and his family and the fellowship he attended for so many years to repentance. Thank You Father, in the name of Jesus our Lord we pray Amen
